I've got about half a day's worth of brush clearing and haul away that I'd like to get done. It's residential, just in a neighborhood with big lots. I called one place who told me their minimum was $2000 no matter how long it took and that felt a bit extreme to me. Any ideas on someone that doesn't charge $250+ an hour to cut down some brush? Lol

Try Travis with Burroughs Land Management. Travis has done work for me in College Station. He did a good job and was reasonably priced. 903-512-2290
Thanks for sharing. Also interested in some work in the wooded portion of the backyard in the future.
How much brush? Yaupon? Trees? Greenbrier?
Same question. I might be interested if it's not too major. How big of an area? Can you get a trailer to it?

I met Travis on a random encounter where he was trying to help a single mom with her family in a parking lot. Pulled into the restaurant and he was trying to help. I told my wife if they were still there when we left I was going to help them. We ate and about hour later he was still there and had gotten a different truck to try to jump it. We then tried my jump box and it still would not jump because the motor had been overheated. I have not personally had him do any work for me but I can tell you he is the kind of person you would want to work for you because he is respectful and his altruism simply amazed me. We talked a little bit and exchanged business cards and I would not hesitate to use him if it is a service he provides.
Yeah, it's like yaupon and some other small brush. It's all walkable and accessible be trailer. I really think someone with a chainsaw and trailer would be in/out in 4 hours.

I agree with SHS. I have used them quite a bit for basic tasks that I am too lazy to do (pull weeds, clean out gutters, etc.). However, realize they are just kids. Most don't really understand what it means to clear brush or use a chainsaw.Jetty said:

I got a couple quotes and decided to go with Tyler referenced above. His price was about 1/3 of the others. I'll report back on how it goes once he's finished next week.
You may know this but spray those yaupon stumps right after you cut otherwise it will return with a vengeance. Or you can wait until it starts to come back and then spray the leaves (while small). Use 25% remedy/75% diesel either way.

Update: tyler with love's landscaping was awesome. A third of the price, excellent work, and left everything cleaner than he found it. Even worked through the rain today! Highly recommend.
