I bet we'll start seeing closures rolling in here soon. CSISD has already announced being closed. TAMU and the city offices are probably next.

Bryan ISD announced they're closed tomorrow too. I'm sure the list will continue to grow throughout the day.

A&M sent an email at noon saying there are no plans to close. I guess we will see if they make a last minute change.

Maybe the 4pm update is being discussed?

TAMU will commonly write "if you can't safely drive to campus" then notify your supervisor and stay home. I didn't see that in the earlier email, but I bet it will be in the next one IF we don't close.

It'd be nice if they would at least make a statement.

I would rather not have people driving in this, but maybe that's just me.

Risk mitigation anyone?

It is very likely that virtually all TAMU employees can do what they do from home, certainly for one day. Obvs there are the few who can't like campus police, etc. Remote work should render this dilemma…obsolete.

Other sites show maybe gusts to 40MPH but only 20-30 sustained.

Dickinson reports 49mph sustained and 62mph gusts, so it's at least that in Galveston

This place on the seawall must have a backup generator. Their webcam is working.

The Strand is flooded.

It's one thing to get high winds in a severe thunderstorm. It's another when it lasts all day. Or if the eyeball passes over you, the wind returns but from the other direction.

We are getting off light so far.

I lost one in my yard during a good storm in early May. Really really don't wanna lose another.

Looking at the KBTX weather app it looks like the thing will be fully northeast of us by 2-ish.

I wonder how bad it would have been if this storm had tracked over us directly. Steady 60 mph winds?

Saw a gust of 51 from Lake Bryan

According to Shel, 60 mph on campus...some gusts up to 88 mph in CS.

Weather station on Kyle Field recorded 99mph.

Saw a tree broken in half in the median of Bush in front of Brookshire Bros. It's blocking a lane.

Well, that was interesting. Just had one of my French doors blown open. It is clearly not aligned properly with the lock and knob. lol. It wouldn't stay closed so I whipped out the drill and adjusted the two strike plates.

It now closed. I was lucky the wind was blowing the other direction or else I would have been soaked.
