The local grocery stores are really not very consistent on fruits and they are often void of all taste. Anyone got any suggestions on the best place or brand to find consistently good blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries?

You must also have toddlers...

We buy everything at HEB, but I agree that sometimes they don't have the best selection.

Costco - freeze them if too many. My kids devour them though.

Really frustrating that last 3-4 purchases of raspberries here 0 taste. I'd already given up on blueberries. Blackberries and strawberries hit or miss.

Do you have both memberships? Which do you like better? I am thinking about trying this one year.

Responses like this are so useless.

Are you running a farm stand from your backyard from which I can buy berries?

The problem with chain grocers is that they have to purchase veggies and fruit that is picked unripe or at best semi-ripe in order to get them into the store still in good condition so we will purchase it. We as customers demand produce that is absolutely in perfect condition....any blemish, forget it about it selling.

Go to pick-your-own Fredricksburg for peaches, Nacogdoches for blueberries, blackberries on farms around Houston, the Hill country for Texas grown apples and grapes, and your local farmer's markets in season and you can get good ripe produce.

Jollisant Farms at Plantersville is a great place to go in season.

Oddly enough, Aldi has consistently good berries. I just bought blackberries this week and they are much better than HEB. I was sent in for a specific item, but I will go back

The farm markets on Saturdays have had dewberries, blackberries and blueberries recently and they have been good.

Got a batch of blackberries and raspberries from Costco today. Both were way better than HEB. It's only one purchase but still thought I'd report my findings so far.

If you have a small patch of land put in a blackberry bush. They are crazy tough; I have one that has been neglected and keeps producing berries and new growth. It is even putting out a new crop of berries now.
