I see this or the after effects at least once a week on Hwy6. People getting on the freeway in a rush and immediately whip over into the left lane (has happened to me several times).

The driver with good reactions directly in front of me going ~70 saw the SUV entering the freeway quickly merging to the spot in the left lane they currently occupied. Good driving, they avoided the SUV having to eventually plow into the grassy median after several seconds of being run off the road. They were able to control it and came to a stop with no secondary collisions fortunately. I looped back but they already made it out of the ditch.
The SUV now going 85+ I eventually caught up to in traffic who was oblivious or fleeing exited at Emerald Pkwy. Just so I'm not doxing someone, PM me if you would like the license of the gray Buick Enclave SLY-XXXX with the "Student Driver" sticker below the license plate. I doubt this was a student driver the way they were driving.

I dislike posting this, but getting tired of ignorant drivers out there thinking they own the world and running from their actions.

Happy Monday everyone..

We need 3 lanes both ways so bad through town. And we won't end up doing it or having it completed for 15 years probably.

I completely agree with your scenario. Here's another...

Entering Hwy 6 N from Barron Rd before Rock Prairie, never speeding up to Hwy speed because the driver wants to get over to the Business 6 left exit. They go about 45 mph onto the hwy, creating a backlog of cars entering the hwy then never try to match the hwy speed to move over easier and instead wait for a large enough gap to quickly move over at 45mph while everyone else avoids getting crushed from behind.

Or already being on Hwy 6 from prior to that and just cruising in the left lane at 50mph because they are planning on exiting at that same exit in 2 more miles.

Nightmare fuel.

My most frequent near collision is people changing lanes during the turn @ Fitch off the access road near the water tower. Happens way too often so now I just usually take the outer lane to be safer.

Construction to add another lane in each direction to begin in the next year or so.

Glad I'm not the only one to notice this. Chances of getting hit from the side at that intersection are really high if you decide to take the left of the 2 left turn lanes.

Not sure what it is about that turn, but many times the time drivers in the outside/right left turn lane make that turn and wheel over either 1 or 2 lanes. I've seen some make a turn from the outer lane all the way over to the left turn lane to head back N on the access road, it's crazy.

Forget wheeling from the R to the L lane (which is terrible), but what about drivers that just fail to yield to the vehicles already at speed in the right lane? Drivers coming onto 6 refuse to merge/yield to vehicles already in the R lane and at speed. I was in the R lane the other day and couldn't move over because there was someone to my left. The merging driver starts to move left into me, then when she sees I can't move over, slams her brakes, wheels behind me, and gives me the bird and flashes her headlights like it's my fault for not getting out of her way.

The vehicle merging onto the freeway does NOT have the right of way. Old man yells at clouds rant over.

MERGE (highway speed) on entrance ramps. Its the law !

This means you need to be going 70+ BEFORE you reach the end of the ramp.

IF there is a car in the right lane that is UNABLE to move to the left, then GUN IT and get in front of them.

NEVER hit your brakes on an entrance ramp or just after merging. The result will backup traffic with cascading effects for several minutes until traffic volume decreases.

(This is you Northbound WDF, Barron, and RP mergers from 745-800am.)

and when EXITING the highway, DO NOT SLOW down until you have reached the frontage road. Not before you exit, not on the exit ramp, not until you hit the frontage road.

Or just time your entrance to highway 6 so that you would avoid having to gun it.

Let's be honest, when was the last time any of us went out driving in this town and made it home without shaking your head at least five times at the ridiculousness. Between entitled drivers and construction, the best days are the ones I stay home!!!

The stretch where you're driving south on Texas, approaching the Hwy 6 on ramp is getting really dangerous. Oftentimes, you get onto Hwy 6, and then come to an almost complete stop, and see faster moving vehicles approaching in the rear view, only to hope that they aren't looking at their phone.

Then you have the Fitch exit which has become clogged with traffic. Not good at all.

Or you could just stay on the feeder road. One stop light and one four way stop. Not so bad.

And take the normal ten years to complete?
So now instead of the bad driver posts we will have all of the I hate the construction posts!

I love the guys that race you down the shoulder to get ahead, or you are coming up on an exit ramp and the idiots speed around you to cut you off at the exit.

My favorite is the skippers, that enter the highway to "skip" a traffic light and then leave at the next exit, thus slowing down the traffic on the highway to allow them to merge and then exit.

I see issues often on the 6 frontage road between Fitch and Barron. People are traveling southbound on 6 access road after Barron Road and take the U turn at Fitch to head northbound with the plan to turn right at the Frost Bank. This turn is right when the three lanes merge into 2 lanes. People who have done the U turn and are in the far left lane will slam on their brakes waiting for a break in the two lanes to the right to shoot across all lanes to turn right all because they didn't want to wait at the William D. Fitch lights. Waiting for those lights would have allowed them to be in the correct lane and safely turn.

We are the largest 4 year university campus in the US.

So yeah, we've got bad drivers from all over converging on our roads.

Just drive safe, drive defensively, and keep a positive attitude.

This
Every morning I take my kid to school and as we leave I think " maybe this is the day I don't encounter a dumbass driver and everyday it never happens.

If you don't drive defensively in this town you will have a wreck. Im a very defensive driver and if I wasn't I would of had at least a dozen collisions by now.
I drive a lot , in town and all over the state ( 200k miles on my truck in a little less than 5 years and that's not counting my wife's vehicle which is the vehicle we use for family trips)
College station is worst drivers imaginative. Overly aggressive , no clue what's going on, no clue as to the laws of driving , right away, merging ect, no clue how to handle a vehicle, no courtesy.. just insane bad driving.
Just look how often you see people driving in town at night without their lights on. It's ridiculous
Few weeks ago I witnessed nearly a collision on Wellborn road because a car pulling out onto Wellborn pulled right in front of an oncoming car who didn't have their lights on and this was at dusk,, no way the car pulling out could of saw him. And that's just one example of the many

People talk about CSPD but honestly I wish we had more traffic patrol in CS. Especially on the bypass and areas just outside of town.

That and I do wish there was a public forum to post vehicle descriptions and or photos/ videos of these drivers.

We should be on the top of TxDoTs list. Each year, we take the worst (least experienced) drivers from all over the state and concentrate them in to one relatively small area.

At least we've got medians now.

Kidding!
