According to "The Points Guy" flights going to 4x a day from 3. Not sure of time, but seems likely next summer - no bookings available that I can find currently. Apparently not requiring any subsidy or the CoCS buying anything either. Just AA expanding their schedules.

I hope they do. The only time I fly out of CLL is when I have to fly up to my company's HQ, but I hate either leaving at 5 a.m or getting there at midnight. Hopefully it means more reasonable time options.

Thats good. But with the easier new drive to IAH, I can't justify the price difference.

I think flights and airlines will continue to expand.

It was crazy in 1994 to about 1998 or so... AA had about 9 flights daily, continental had about 6 and delta had 3

AA sucks so bad. I wish United would come back or some other carrier would start service here. For now we just drive to IAH or Bergstrom.

I am now used to going to IAH. It is a lot easier, now that Aggie Expressway is open.
Since I fly United 90% of the time, I have gotten status.

I was flying AA most of the time, but missed too many connections back to College Station from DFW. Got stuck with no other options home. I don't have that problem from IAH.

I can't, either, unless work is paying the tab.

I know it was a short hop but the thing I miss most about United here was the easy check in at Easterwood vs. IAH.

You are correct, it is easier at smaller airports, but when you account for the layovers, the chances of missing connections, and the lack of options, going to IAH is much better.

I can get to IAH in about 1:20 or so most of the time. I have TSA precheck, so security is easy. I am guessing size of the airport adds about 20 minutes for me. So, say I add about an hour of time going to IAH vs CLL. Well, add in layovers and I am already ahead going to IAH.

I was surprised to see it was only 3 when I traveled for the first time in awhile for work earlier this year. You can't connect in DFW and get back to CLL before 5 and if that flight is full - it's midnight. Get delayed any and you're stuck in DFW

Seems like there were 4 or 5 only about 5 years ago with the last getting you home by 10

Like a 6a 10a 2p 7p departure
And
A 8a 12p 4p 10p arrivals

I believe that was closely the old schedule. The planes coming in now I believe are larger than they were which may have been why they reduced flights. Seems like they realized they made a mistake - it's been very inconvenient trying to get into CLL in my travels this year.

What do you do with your car? One convenience with CLL is that my wife or friends can pick up/drop off and save on airport parking.

we usually book early AM flights so we stary the night at the Marriott in the airport at IAH the nigh before and park cheap there for our trip.

I either park it and pay or take Ground Shuttle to/from if the schedule fits.

Although the drive to IAH is a little over an hour now, parking and taking the shuttle is easily my least favorite part about IAH. I have an F250 which will only fit if I use their valet and it's way too expensive. So I'm left to ride the parking shuttle and I just absolutely hate waiting for that thing.

If easterwood had more options, I think I'm more likely to fly out of there. But, I too have been stranded in DFW on the way home more than once and that sucked.

I wish we could do the pre-check interviews at Easterwood.

90 mins to IAH from CoCS (aggie expressway.. Beltway 8).. EcoPark (covered parking) ~$8/day (20% off for long stays if purchased online). Least expensive way to travel especially for two or more people.

I am usually alone and clients for work reimburse travel expenses. So I take Ground Shuttle from the office in CS and get dropped at the terminal. It costs a bit more, but I can work or relax on the way to/from the airport.

My wife did that a month or two back. She signed up for an appointment and did all her pre-check stuff at Easterwood.

They don't do it there often however.

They do it a couple times a year at least for a few days. Took me 10 min from parking to leaving and I got my number in less than 24 hours.

I took the Ground Shuttle once. Never again. Driver was a complete maniac and almost caused a wreck within the first five minutes. Didn't get much better the rest of the way. I refused to ride it on the way back and had a friend pick me up. Spoke to the owner about this and he was mostly unphased. As far as I know, the driver still works there.

IAH is now more convenient with toll road and schedule of flights. Ground shuttle is good too if you don't want to drive. Ground shuttle also offers car service.

It's convenient to get to but you pay out the ass for parking unless you plan well ahead and get to an off site lot and then deal with the construction of the airport.

When I'm charging it on my work card then I'll park in the lots right next to the airport. Would be a whole lot better if a community of 300k+ would actually have an airport worth a ****, but then again that'd be expecting the university, the county & the 2 cities to actually partner and invest in something worthwhile.

So that won't happen any time soon.

Sidenote irritant regarding Easterwood: Last time I parked there, I noticed they have eliminated incremental parking rates. It is $9 per 24 hours. Period. If you are there 24 hours and 49 minutes, like I was, that's $18 to park.

I assumed that they are expanding their # flights to DFW. Did not know they were adding IAH also. If so, that may be good for some people.

American won't be flying from BCS to IAH. They'll only fly the regionals to hubs, so it DFW or nothing.

They had a pop-up at Easterwood last year - that's when I got mine. Maybe they'll do another. Best $$ spent EVER!

If united came back, I'd start flying out of Easterwood again. As it stands, I drive to IAH or AUS to catch a flight.

I thought that...I was just wondering why the thread went to a discussion of flights and drives to Houston.

I miss it too, but Not sure this will ever make economic sense again, it's already down to a 1hr 15min drive with 249 and will get shorter when the Aggie highway continues to 6 in Navasota. Parking cost, gas and time are worth something, but I think it would have to be less than $100 higher than flying out of IAH to make sense for me individually and not sure it would make sense ever for the family.

I'm fairly sure both Houston and Austin service will be here relatively soon. Brazos county will pass 300,000 in population any month now.
