Howdy! My business has the excellent problem of lots of orders and I am hiring immediate help. It is not a retail space where we have customers. Everything is purchased online and shipped out.

I pay $15/hr for contract work (no taxes or social security taken out by me. you file your own taxes next year) and you pick your own hours. It is short term only now until about December 20ish so low commitment. I also buy everyone lunch at least once a week.

Super easy work like folding boxes and bagging cookies and sprinkles. No experience in a kitchen required!

I'm hiring anyone - teens, current students, moms needing extra cash for holiday gifts.

True, but you deduct the employer-equivalent portion of your self-employment tax in figuring your adjusted gross income so it's really about half a hit.

Also, don't make any more than $400.

I thought it was 600. Did that change

Yeah I also remember it being $600.

If your net profit is below $400, you don't have to pay self-employment tax. See line 4c here:

The $600 threshold is for 1099 reporting. If a company pays a contractor less than $600, the company doesn't need to file a 1099-NEC (formerly 1099-MISC) reporting the payments. However, the contractor still has to pay tax on all income/payments.

I believe, the $600 is the amount an employer has to give the contractor a 1099 at the end of the year...I get about 25 of them. The contractor has to consider all income as taxable.

The $400 is ceiling on what you have to pay self-employment tax on...under that, you don't.
