I know there have been several mentions and questions on Starlink, so I'll try to be as specific as possible:

-House and Land are in South College Station, past Lick Creek on East side of Rock Prairie, almost to Peach Creek
-Have been on Viasat and needed (2) Platinum packages to get us through the month. Almost $400+ a month.
-We are "up" for Starlink delivery, and service map shows we are in the "available" area.
-$599 for equipment and $120 a month (residential package)
-Mostly used for Netflix, YouTube TV, basic streaming, email/surfing the net, some business Conf./Zoom Calls

Any feedback is greatly appreciated, especially from anyone currently on Starlink in this area!

TIA!

I have it on the southwest side of town outside of Wellborn. Got the portable system and mounted it on the house because that was all that was available. Wife and two teenagers streaming constantly on their phones and TVs while on the computers. I work from home. Very few bandwidth issues at all.

Thank you, very helpful!

Looks like the difference is you're paying $150/month vs $120, but still $599 for initial investment/equipment (if I'm not mistaken), but you could move your's if you went mobile (like in an RV), or could move it to another house if you all decided to move, and not have to make any changes in equipment or financially.

I know someone who has it around the Roans Prairie area (they are juuust outside of Mid South's Fiber area). They consistently get between 60-200Mbps. Earlier this year, they were getting between 30-60 all of the time but service has been getting faster as Starlink continues to launch more sats.

We have the roam service for when we travel to events, etc. Roaming/RV is a deprioritized service during times of congestion but when I've tested it around our area, it always gets at least 30Mbps and it's not uncommon for it to reach north of 100 during off-peak times. We used it in Hot Springs, AR a few months ago and during the ~7:00PM peak, it would slow down to about 20Mbps but then shoot up to close to 150Mbps later in the evening. We were also in a very large RV resort where I counted at least 30+ other dishes just in that park.

Not exactly sure what is going on out there at this very moment. But one friend who is across from lick creek entrance was on a ceo node south of his property. It was not perfect since it was a rented site and failures required coordination and could take a few days after a major outage. Another friend on pipeline rd built a rf shot to ceo but believe he is on brazos wifi currently without issue. I know brazos built a node off peach creek and several people here had service.
I use starlink in goliad but i think you should be able to get wisp coverage and even if trees are an issue you should be able to justify some infrastructure to unload viasat
Call jim at brazos wifi he if very familiar with local options

A friend just down Sulphur Springs rd from us has Brazos WiFi, and it's been outstanding for him. Issue there, like we encountered, was the $3-$5k initial cost to put up your own tower next to your house. A fair investment if planning to be there for a long time, but…

That said, we've been eyeing Starlink for a while, as it seemed newer technologies (numerous Satellite access pts in rural areas), lower initial set up, fair monthly fee, and trustworthy consistency all "might" be finally aligning.

I've used Starlink traveling with my RV throughout the western US. I've had it for over a year and and a half. Currently, I'm just east of CS. It works great for me. I just dida speed test with 92 Mbps down and 15 Mbps up.

I have portability, but I have RV friends who change their service address every time they move.

I'd really love to start using starlink in this way. I love traveling and camping and the ability to also be connected is extremely attractive. What are the downsides to having this service?

Obstructions to the sky , like trees, really disrupts service. I struggled while traveling around Mt. Rainier because of the trees. Also, I've learned that upload speeds can slow down. Co-workers have told me that at times my video pauses during video calls for a few second. It doesn't happen often, but is does happen. The download seems to be more reliable. Again, it doesn't happen often. Other than that, I've been satisfied with the service.

I've been able to travel to places with no cell signal and continue to work because of Starlink. It was a game changer for me.

We are pretty close to you. Wife works from home, and is on multiple video conference calls all day, we have 4 tv's connected YouTubeTV) and phones when we're home.

Its been good for us. We dropped DirecTV (way cheaper to stream) and no differences in when it would be out related to storms. Its always up, always on, and always good.

(Except for when Elon won't help Ukraine with their attacks and our war mongering government tells the FCC to flip a switch - I digress.......Long story short there have been 2 significant (more than 10 minutes) outages in a year of service. First one was 10 minutes, the last one, post Ukraine was less than 2 hours.

BUY THE MOUNT you want with your order or ASAP. It doesn't come with a house mount. You'll probably also want the LONGER CABLE, and the Ethernet splitter cause its native setup is all WIFI, so you prolly want the splitter to run a Ethernet cable to a router depending on what you may want prioritized.

SARATOGA- Was hoping you'd chime in…thank you Sir! The additional pieces of info like "BUY THE MOUNT" are very helpful!
