Recommendations on a local (ish) gunsmith? Need a stock replaced on a browning X-bolt. My rubber/composite thing is more akin to sticky fly paper now. It was manageable but dug it out this year and it makes you not even want to touch it.

Or if anyone has dealt with Browning on the issue..... there was a recall a while back. Either way would need a shop to ship the gun....

You do not need a FFL to ship or receive back a firearm for gunsmithing purposes. You can ship it directly yourself.

Call Browning and see what they say. As said, you should be able to handle sending it in.

Call Browning. I called them about two years ago because my shotgun was doing the same thing, and they took care of it. I believe it was shipped via UPS.

Thanks. Did they replace with the same composite stock? or Walnut? Would prefer to not have the issue again.

Only reason for the FFL was to have somewhere delivery was available. I travel for work, didn't want to catch the UPS man needing a signature while I was away.

This is also the street I grew up on. In college station.

They swapped it out with another composite stock and haven't had any issues since.
