NAVASOTA, Texas (KBTX) - 80 years after his death, a World War II soldier's remains returned to the Brazos Valley Thursday.
U.S. Army Air Forces Technical Sgt. Elton Gomillion died in August 1943 when the enemy gunned down the bomber he was aboard and crashed in Bolivia. Finally, his family was able to welcome home his remains after being identified this past Spring.
"Probably eight, nine years ago, my sister and I were contacted and asked if we would do a DNA test and that they were in the process of trying to relocate remains with their families," Tech. Sgt. Gomillion's niece, Ellen Dyer, said.
When his plane was hit, Ellen was just two years old. She still remembers how her mother was impacted by the unknown of her brother. "

They actually got it right in the broadcast - Romania.

Not sure how that turned into Bolivia in the written version.

Never heard of that. Perhaps the Nazi's shot him down from a plane, boat or sub? They sank more than 75 ships from the Gulf of Mexico all the way up to and into NY harbor. They also landed a couple of times on Long Island.

It's an error in the written version. He was killed on the Ploiesti raid which as Smeghead4761 noted was in Romania.

And while I loathe using Wikipedia, this article is actually pretty good.

"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

If you can bomb the moon surely you could knock a plane out of the sky in Bolivia.

They finally fixed it.

I think where the confusion came was in regards to his place of burial:

Unknowns in the Hero Section of the Civilian and Military Cemetery of Bolovan, Ploiesti, Prahova, Romania

It still should have been caught by someone along the line, though.
