How long were the poles sitting without progress? And now the long anticipated start of those signals has been pushed back?

Who's the project manager or supplier for TxDOT who really screwed this one up?

They appeared to be ready for lights before Christmas. It was discussed on this board. I don't know what the holdup is now.

I'm fine with the hold-up... non-emergency government agencies not doing anything is the best outcome for everyone

The project had already started. Money had already been spent to improve traffic safety. You prefer for the government to spend money and get no benefit? That would be the best outcome for everyone?

Theyre waiting for the medians to be finished on Wellborn to Navasota.

Who freaking knows with the City of College Station and TXDOT. Both are absolute jokes when it comes to getting anything done. Literally anything.

Several trucks of workers were out there yesterday. Lights are mounted on poles and they were working on what I assume is the control box. I would expect these online in the next few days.

I've never waited more than 10 seconds to turn left onto fitch, but will every time once the light goes live.

But, you'll be able to turn left from Fitch onto Wellborn without risking your life. A door closes and a window opens.

Sign tonight on Fitch said the signal goes live 7/25.

I don't go that way often but when I do I take Barron cut off. I thought everyone did.

Everyone does. And it's just as dangerous at times. The light should make it better for those turning left off Fitch and give a break to those turning lefty off Barron Cutoff.

Barron Cut Off is a secret passage.

People that try to turn left from Barron to Wellborn at any busy time if the day are just not good at thinking.

If you need a light to make a left turn across busy traffic perhaps you shouldn't be driving in the first place....

There are DOZENS of stoplights in this town that should be stop signs for the secondary street......where the main/larger/thoroughfare road has to stop so that inept drivers from minor roads who can't make a left turn across traffic are given a special green arrow invitation to enter onto the main road. On WDF examples of this are ALL the secondary crossings (that should be just stop signs).....Barron, Victoria, Arrington, Lakeway the list goes on and on.

WDF was a great road when constructed, then messed up by stoplights. 1 step forward and 2 steps back is CS traffic policy.

"If you need a light to make a left turn across busy traffic perhaps you shouldn't be driving in the first place...."

Dude, that's a pretty ignorant statement. There is no protected left turn from any street onto Wellborn between Rock Prairie and the new one at Royder.

Agree … was about to say that was one of the most uneducated, uninformed responses.

This has long been the schtick of Saratoga. Or Blue Miles? Maybe they are the same poster, I don't remember.

This is someone who didn't want stoplights at Arrington and Fitch and when told there would be too many wrecks of Castlegate moms and kids trying to get to HEB just said "it's fine, we need to thin the herd".

"Thin the herd" has long been his mantra. It's just internet tough guy talk.

Same here, but I've never even seen it turn red.

I'm not Blue miles. I do believe that traffic would run more efficiently if primary larger thoroughfare type of roads were allowed to maintain right of way with as few stoplights as possible and secondary roads had stop signs or forced right lane merges to one direction rather than protected left turns (stoplights) at ever cross street.

For example on Wellborn, west bound traffic from Ryder to Rock Prairie would be forced to turn right into a lane that joins traffic smoothly (like WDF does now), and goes "Aggie North", and if you wanted to make a left turn (going "Aggie South") then you'd use secondary streets to move up and down, until you got to another street that allowed a protected left turn.

The current roads on Fitch are technically frontage roads with the middle supposed to be filled with a straight thoroughfare with overpasses at the major crossroads (Barron, Victoria). If TXDOT would have redirected the funds for all of the ignorant medians thoughout CS and Bryan, I bet they could have done a fair portion of that highway.

But that median really adds to the beauty of the area. It's one of the few areas not destroyed by developers
