Already. Trying to achieve a 15% water use reduction to allow the system to replenish. Watering allowed only on two days according to address number, and only between 9 pm and 5am.

My bet is that stage two will be implemented in a week because I know several people with automatic systems, the biggest users of water, completely disregarded the lasts years rules.
Yeah, well, sometimes nothing is a real cool hand

snd they keep connecting new users when there isn't enough for those already in the system. Doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

It's obvious their admin and board have dropped the ball for years and cannot keep up or recover. Unfortunately their board elections are shrouded in neglect and obfuscation to the point very few on the system are aware they even exist.

Same as Wellborn SUD.

It's unusually hot with no rain in the foreseeable future. This will be the norm for the Brazos Valley soon.

Unusually hot, for sure. However: it is still possible to get adequate moisture to your landscape in two watering days per week. In fact watering deeper, but less frequently, is better for the landscape.

Wickson's 2 day a week schedule is not onerous. I watered once in April and once in May, and I could've skipped those because it rained later. This past week was the first time I went to twice a week watering.

However, not everyone knows this. Not everyone knows how much water their irrigation systems use in a cycle, or how much strain that puts on a water system. So there are schedules for when to water.

I do appreciate them being proactive and not waiting until we've gone a month or two without rain.

Unfortunately, my wife just planted a bunch of new plants and we may have to baby them through the next rain.

Really need to look into a water collection system.

If the county wants to pay for my irrigation system and upkeep I'll let them decide when it comes on

In my daily travels I see the same yard watering systems operating daily, seven days a week....even during heavy rains. Two hours on each location a week is more than enough to maintain a lawn or shrubs. If you have hanging baskets or new plants in pots, water by hand.

They also demand that we water at night, which will almost guarantee any St. Augustinegrass you have will be decimated by gray leaf spot.

Several new residences with sod installed this week in our neighborhood. That's going to be an expensive loss.

I have xeriscaped most of the beds, but this out of the blue with no warning edict is not customer friendly.

I feel like they gave warnings last year prior to implementing. I wonder if they saw people water like hell during that time and decide to not even bother with it this summer.

Think Welborn SUD gave warning as well. According to KBTX they have been in phase 1 since 6/1. NADA as warning.

Lots of folk in S Welborn with new sod- will not bode well for them. I reseeded Bermuda in spring, after last year's StA kill off. I can kiss that goodbye.

You won't be able to sustain established Bermuda with 16 hours per week available to irrigate?

Midnight to 5 AM and 9 to midnight, 2 days per week, is sixteen hours of watering time. If you're dragging hoses it's a PITA but if you have an automatic irrigation system it's a matter of reprogramming your controller to that window. BVWaterSmart recommends irrigation no more than 2 days per week already so Wickson customers getting weekly watering recommendations may only need to change their watering days.

depends upon if you have a small lot or a larger yard with several stations.
EBrazosAg

Correct - it's all about your pressure and flow and station count. Perhaps Wickson could drill some wells and build some towers. They charge outrageous summer volume fees on top of their normal fees - which are understandable higher than city fees due to the decreased meter density in the "country".

and yet they do not limit the daily topping off of swimming pools. They just pretend they don't exist.

last year our pool was completed the day they instituted the level 3. we had to fill the pool or ruin it. took four days and I kept waiting for them to show up and yell at us. then we had to wait and have sod installed until the drought was over.

wickson has supposedly upgraded this past year so this is kind of interesting.

It would be interesting to know how they can control the adding of water to a swimming pool in a locked rear fence.

Do you have a neighbor named Rolf Gruber who wears a brown shirt?

Wickson spent their $$ on remote continuous monitoring meters instead of wells and towers. So now they can watch your water use real time. They can look at hour by hour use anytime.

It's been almost a month since we've had significant rainfall. It's been pretty much 100 degrees every day for that time. Everyone is trying to keep their lawns alive and it's understandable that it is stressing the water supply. I'm not exactly thrilled that I've got so many new developments going in around me but I understand that with that growth is going to stress entities like Wickson, BTU and other providers to provide services during times of heat/drought, freezes, hurricanes etc.

I've dealt with Wickson for nearly 20 years now and they have been very accommodating when I've had issues. If you need to fill your pool or possibly use more water for newly sodded grass (I personally would have waited till fall to sod knowing the amount of water I had to use the last time I did it in the spring a few years ago), they may be willing to work with you?

I've never had to deal with Wellborn but have had to deal with COCS, Wickson and BTU over the last 30 years. All 3 of those have been pretty well run and accommodating in that time. Compared to my parents power and water companies out in West Texas, we're pretty lucky in my opinion.
