I'd be interested in feedback / opinions on which of these 2 neighborhoods you think are the best environment for small children. I'm looking at 2 houses that are same lot size and tick all the other boxes but I want to move to whichever neighborhood is most likely to provide the best environment for a current 4 year old and as he grows older. TIA.

I am personally a bigger fan of Edelweiss - particularly if you can get a house close to the park and playground area closer to Victoria. Helped a similar client (young couple looking for a start home for their young family) a few weeks ago close on a house there.

But either way - you probably can't go wrong with either of them.

If you need a realtor - Red Pear will split the realtor commission with our clients, which typically means on a $300K purchase - the Seller pays the buyer's realtor $9,000 and we split that with our clients which means $4500 in your pocket on the day of closing. Can be used for moving expenses, buying down the interest rate, getting the home price lower, paying for closing costs etc. I'd love a chance to talk to you if you'd like to hear more! We gave back $13,000 to our clients in the month of May just to put it in perspective.

Happy to talk! 979-217-1829

We loved South Hampton when we lived there. Lots of kids in the neighborhood, and great neighbors overall. No, there isn't a park, but there is very little traffic, it's easy to get in and out of, and you have Nantucket behind you that you can walk and explore.

We moved only because we found land to build on. But we go back every year to visit old neighbors and go trick or treating.

Do people ride around in golf carts in South Hampton? Is it frowned upon to put out corn for the deer? Is there a lake/pond that you have access to for catch and release fishing?

Had exactly the same experience living in South Hampton. Still have friends there as well. I know nothing about Edelweiss but the school track for SH seems very desirable for parents.

We lived in Edelweiss for several years and overall it was a nice neighborhood. There are a lot of rental houses, so neighbor turnover is not uncommon. I don't think that's the case in South Hampton.

The HOA is active so even with rentals, the lawns are kept in good shape and the neighborhood looks nice.

Yes, people ride around on golf carts all the time.

The deer didn't really come through South Hampton much when we were there. But occasionally they would pass through. But it's probably not a good idea to put corn out in your front yard. If you're looking at a lot that has open space behind it, then putting something out back might not be a big deal.

The Nantucket Lake is for Nantucket residents only. But you may be able to reach out to their HOA about paying for access. The small ponds by the Cove of Nantucket may have fish, but I don't know. Other than that, no, there is no public fishing.

Have you looked at the Estates at Creek Meadows? We moved there from Edelweiss Gartens and have found it to be immensely better for younger children. Just a thought.
