Best cleaner to take some jeans for heavy starch. I mean standup by themselves heavy starch.

Any of them can do this. Just request heavy starch. I use Pride and Briarcrest for all my stuff, FWIW.

Can and do are two totally different things. Most cleaners in this town do not do a good heavy starch. I have spent a lot of time and exploration into this - I'll look to see if I can find it later, but years back I actually tested close to a dozen cleaners in town and ran "experiments" to test their starch level.

Jot 59 was a decent starch but their lack of reliability (inconsistent and inconvenient hours) turned me off from them a few years back.

Briarcrest was my favorite cleaner I ever used - unfortunately I am rarely in that part of town anymore so I've stopped going (and heavy starched jeans has become less of a priority for me).

I'm currently using Pro Eagle Cleaners - their starch is good enough for me right now, and even though I'm seeing they have terrible reviews online, they've always been good to me.

*Edit to add: I found my thread from several years ago.

I replied to OC's old thread and mentioned Briarcrest and would still recommend them. They will go even heavier if you ask. I used the main one on Briarcrest and the drive-thru drop off location off of Graham Rd - both great service.

I hate leaving a bad review for a locally owned, Aggie business but I was a regular Pride customer for about a year and eventually went to Briarcrest due to them not doing heavy starch when I requested it many times. They set up profiles for regular customers like most cleaners and the first couple of times I went, I asked for a light starch so that's what my profile said. After a few visits, I decided I wanted heavy starch so I began requesting heavy but they kept doing light starch because that's what my profile said. I asked them to change my profile each time that I would take my jeans in and it never happened. The people they had working the counter and drive-thru were always very nice to deal with and said they changed it but it would never make it into the system. I reached out on their Facebook page and was told they would get my profile corrected and again, never did.

Edit to add- A good friend of mine has used the cleaners in the strip center on Harvey Rd by Post Oak Florist and jokes about his jeans being able to stand up on their own. I haven't tried it out yet, though.

I like Pride cleaners for heavy starch. Briarcrest, Jot 59 and the cleaners that was in the Kroger shopping center on Booneville would always have white, starch droplets on the jeans when I requested heavy starch. Pride never had that issue.

Pro Cleaners on Harvey will get it done right. Jeans will stand on their own after they starch them.

I think we're talking about the same one. Looks like online they go by "Pro Eagle Cleaners" but I do think their sign out front just says Pro Cleaners.

They are also the quickest cleaners I've found in town. Even if you drop off at 10:00 they still have it done by 4:00 (and actually every time I've gone at 3:00, it's ready then).

Thanks for the guidance all. I am going to try out the Pro Cleaners on Harvey first since it seems more convenient currently.

They have three locations.

Man, I remember getting uniforms starched when I was in the Army back in the 90s/early 2000s.

God I hated that.

After a ruined suit (and their reluctance to claim any responsibility), I wouldn't trust Pride with a ratty table cloth.

Have always been happy with Jot 59, just difficult to get in and out of their parking lot

Same. Ruined suit is what killed Pride for me.

And sadly what killed Villa Maria Cleaners for me as well. I had been a third generation Villa Maria patron. Dad and grandparents have sworn by them for decades. But the day I (very politely) pointed out a quite ridiculous hiccup in their care of a suit and the girl up front responded dryly with "I don't work in the back," I just couldn't bring myself to giving them anymore of their business.

(They had for some unknown reason ironed a new crease in the lapel - essentially folded it in half back on itself and pressed it. I politely asked the girl what I could do to get it fixed she said "I don't work in the back"...)

That sucks. By ruined, I mean it came back with 3 holes and a hem half ripped.

Haha yeah, I've never had that. The Villa Maria suit wasrn't ruined fortunately. But Pride ruined two. Dreaded lapel bubbling.

But yeah 3 holes and a hem rip makes me wonder why their machines are hungry for cloth.
