Who are all the trash service companies that serve rural areas in Brazos and Robertson?

We currently use BV Trash Valet, but their prices are going up again ($27.50 +tax). I really can't justify continuing to pay that for a can that isn't generally big enough to hold our trash for the week (we usually have to make a trip to the dump with our "overage" each week).

The only other one I know of is B.A.G.S. but i think they charge about the same or more.

We have two of our own large cans. I take trash to the landfill once per month or sooner if the cans get full before a month goes by.

It's $2-3 plus whatever gas and time it takes me on a Saturday morning.

If I recall, you live at the north end of the county so it would be a long haul for you.

I've been using BAGS since 1996. Never had a problem.

We are already making typically one trip there per week right now. 3 kids, with 2 in diapers, makes our trash fill up quickly with a necessity to get it out weekly. That and we have a ton of coons, foxes, and coyotes that enjoy trash...

Then ditch the pick up service altogether and just keep doing it yourselves. Money saved.

Maybe you could crowd source this with a neighbor. Y'all take turns making the landfill run and hauling a couple of houses worth of garbage and cancel your service.

I know it would seem cheaper- but twin oaks is almost a 40 minute drive each way. After calculating in gas and time, it's not worth it, especially having to go once a week( one week of trash for us is about 6-8 kitchen bags, plus animal feed bags and boxes). We honestly should start buying a lot of the easy paper stuff...

If there isn't a better and more cost effective option, I'll stick with bvtvr, but I at east want to explore other options.

Brazos County has landfill drop-off locations for residents. I think it's $1 per bag. Leon and Madison Cos. also have them..

We use BV Trash Valet and it's worth it even with the price increase because they take recyclables too. But you mentioned the can not being big enough - I have on multiple occasions dragged my own second trash can up there with a couple extra bags of trash and they always take it whatever we put out...

We might do that if we have to. I know I asked before and they said we could pay for another can at the same price as the first, so I wasn't really looking to pay around $50/month for trash, but if they will pick up from a can I own I may do that.

Have you contacted them and asked for a second can if you don't want to purchase one ?

We put out our own second can as well- with BV trash

We always used Jones Trash Service. Kelvin Jones is a great guy and would basically pick up everything we put out. We came to a "custom" price as we had a large house that generated a lot of trash and he took care of us. Can not say enough about his service. 9 7 9 2 5 5 6 2 8 5

Yes- I was told it would be the same cost as the first if bags exceeded 6 total bags (which it would), meaning I would be paying over $50/ month.

Now, if I can just bring my own can to the end of my driveway and they won't enforce the 6 bag limit- great! But that's what they have communicated to me, which is why I'm looking at other options.

We have used BV Trash Valet for a few years now.

We have one of their cans and one that we bought. Sometimes we take one out to the road, other times two.

Never been an issue.

It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

Histag, there is a Citizen's Dump place on Mumford Road off OSR. We have some friends who live on OSR and take their trash there after deciding trash service was too expensive.

We thought about that (though we are the other direction down OSR- towards Normangee), but at $1/bag, it's possibly more expensive than most services and less convenient. Thanks for the suggestion though! It was definitely something we contemplated.

If this is a county facility, yes, it is $.60 a bag, but you could use a big contractor bag and fill it with nearly 2 garbage cans full of trash and it's still only $.60.

$27.50 a month is about what CS charges me for two cans. You can blame their going up on the city…
