Have a freshman in Aggieland. Visited town several times last year. Made it to all the games this fall. Was just in town this weekend. I don't think a single thing has changed on Harvey Mitchell in that time ... just miles or traffic control. I never see any work going going on. What in hail are they doing? Did they find a blind salamander?

4 lanes + turn lane -> 6 lanes and a median.

TxDOT projects are never fast.

Here's my theory: Job went to the lowest bidder who either (a) bid low by planning to use the job as fill in work where they can send a few guys over there on days when they have gaps in other projects or (b) with record inflation since the bids were submitted the contractor is under water and so they are going as slow as possible to absorb the losses slowly while other jobs cover the gap and meanwhile hope that cost pressures ease. Or maybe both.

Hopefully they'll do a better job than they did with OSR and 1179. Those were botched.

Your talking about TxDOT here. Alot of things are ran correctly here in our great state but TxDOT is not one of them.

Ain't a dang thing going on. They haven't done much in months. I drive that stretch every day and rarely see workers.

I'm sure it will end up like the Texas construction project did. Around 10 years for minimal changes.

It took maybe two years, and was more than "minimal changes".

It's fun to exaggerate but not as fun when you start actually believing it yourself.

Construction on Texas started when my older brother was in college (graduated in 07), and there was still construction my senior year. It was fully under construction in 2006 when I started college, and still had various lane closures in 2010. Was it fully under construction that whole time? No. Was there construction on Texas at various points throughout that time? Yes. It definitely was more than 2 years, so I'm guessing it's equally as fun for you to exaggerate.

I drive on that road a minimum of three times a day and over a two year span the amount of work that has taken place is shameful. That stretch of road from Wellborn Rd to University Dr. is one of the busiest roads in College Station and they are taking their time with the construction. How the construction company doing the work is not being held to a higher standard and a stricter schedule is beyond me for the amount of traffic that flows on that road and the amount of troubles the construction creates.

That's been my observation over the last year. Its a really bad look for the town and university.

Tell me you don't know that it's the State doing this without telling me that you don't know the State is doing this... all TXDOT guys

I remember the widening project on Texas back in the day. When they started, there were 3 lanes going North and 3 lanes going South. When they finished there were 3 lanes going North, and 3 lanes going South - and a median.

Hey, it's wider. What's the problem?
