I am considering purchasing a home in Bryan (first time buyer). I received a quote from State Farm (they currently provide my auto and renter insurance), but I am curious if I am getting the best/most competitive rate. I will gladly take any recommendations for insurance providers. I cross posted this in the Real Estate forum as well.

I use Dexter and have been happy. When I built my current home, State Farm wasn't writing HO in Texas. That was despite myself and my parents having a policy on our homes from them for over a half century. I said goodbye and have never looked back. They would be my insurer of last resort.

I would not recommend Anco on Briarcrest. Lots of changes there in the last year or so. Not a stable place from what I hear.

We have had State Farm home and auto for 30 plus years with no issues. Claims process has been very good. Rates are comparable with other insurers.

I just switched from Liberty Mutual to Safeco and used Chase.

We have Morgan with Rollo Insurance get quotes for us every year and get what is best for us for that year.

State Farm has historically been competitive on auto and extremely overpriced on homeowners. A lot of carriers are writing 2% deductible on wind and hail which makes their premium look cheaper so make sure you are comparing comparable coverage.

Listen to Gabe Bock, David Nuno, and Billy Liucci; Call Morgan Moudy @ Rollo Insurance.

They're next level on coverage, cost, and service.

Check out Texas Farm Bureau. I have been happy with them since I bought my house two years ago. I got a discount for moving my car insurance to them too.

I gave Morgan M at Rollo a shot several years ago vs my then current Farmers policies at the time and Morgan was awesome. Have been very pleased overall.

Morgan suggested we stay with our current company as he (and Travelers) couldn't beat their price. He's either very conscious/ethical, or he didn't want us for a customer.

I have had Germania home insurance since 1975. Have never had any issues during two house fires two roof replacements due to hail damage, and in another instance from a huge tree falling on my house. I have never check on price, but they sure have been easy and fair to work with.

If you are connected at all with the Ag industry by degree or job, Ag Workers is the way to go on your vehicles. I have never found anyone that can beat their premiums when you consider the rebates at the end of the year the go to the next year.

USAA will call me every few years asking if they can talk to me about auto insurance and once I mention I am with Ag Workers Mutual, they immediately say, they can't match their premiums.

We've had Hocheim Prairie Insurance (founded in Texas in1892) for 20+ years and have been very happy with their yearly premiums.

Tylor South at Rollo has helped us multiple times. Very pleased, we have auto, renters and home insurance. Great to deal with.

My two cents as someone who works closely with insurance companies on a daily basis…

1) avoid Allstate at all costs
2) you mentioned State Farm, keep in mind there's a reason a lot of those big companies can afford all those commercials and ads.
3) make sure you get a policy with replacement cost benefits (even if the premium is a bit more), it will be well worth it when you need it.

If you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to answer them.

Good luck on your home purchase!
