Just tried to get coffee there. Totally lukewarm. Employee said I could wait 12 minutes for her to make fresh. At least 50% of the time, the coffee I get there isn't hot.

How difficult is it to have hot coffee?

Well, if you always get coffee at 4:44 am I wouldn't expect Whataburger to have hot and fresh coffee at that time either.

Whataburger in general has gone to **** in the past few years. Quality and service have suffered.

We used to eat at whataburger more frequently than anyone should.

Now, I can only think of one time I've been in at least the last year, and it wasn't really by choice. Didn't they get bought out by a Chicago firm?

The Whataburger at Fitch by Lowe's is the most poorly run Whataburger I have seen. I decided to stop by on Monday (Columbus Day) at around 3:00. There was no line in the drive through, they had us pull forward so they would have to bring the order out to the car. It still took them 15 minutes to get the order out to us. I asked the employee who brought my order, who appeared to be supervisor/manager, why that Whataburger location was so much slower than every other Whataburger I've been to. She said she wasn't sure, but that it was hard to get people to work on Mondays. Doesn't explain why they are also slow on Tuesday through Sunday. Most of the time, I will drive past the Fitch Whataburger to go to Rock Prairie. I know that Whataburger is not "fast food" like McDonald's, but they take way too long. They are also bad at handing me drinks without wiping off the outside of cup from the overfill.

4:44 am is before (my guess) 95% of the population is up and wanting coffee (not counting overnight workers). Notice I said hot AND fresh in my post.

I don't know what Whataburger's machines looks like and how they operate. I have never bought coffee from them.

But, someone complaining about fresh/hot coffee at a fast food restaurant at a really odd hour of the morning is pretty silly in my opinion. Especially when the worker told him she would make some for him.

It's a 24 hour restaurant that advertises a 24 hour breakfast menu. It should never be out.

They weren't out. OP even stated they said they would make him fresh coffee.

Whataburger is mostly horrible. I do not understand the crazy drive through lines. I go back occasionally, but it is basically always a let down. It can be a really good fast food place. The food under ideal conditions is pretty tasty and like many of us, I have a long history of eating there.

But, their real problem is they seem only committed to hiring bottom-of-the-barrel workers who do not care and take no pride in their work. That's why orders are wrong half of the time and the dining room is typically dirty and the lines are super slow.

Chick-fil-A and In-N-Out show what is possible if you hire carefully and pay better than Taco Bell.

Local Whataburgers have a long history of being bad. I didn't even know they could be good until I ate at one out of town.

OP try Dutch Bros. for coffee.

Yeah, Whataburger has really gone downhill the last three years or so. Used to eat there semi-regularly. Now it's gotten to where I have a bad experience about 50% of the time whether it's poor quality or service or both.

I stand corrected. I was thinking about when the burritos were available all day.

They should still have fresh and hot coffee at that time.

Figured. That one is terrible. I drive past it to go to the one at Longmire & Rock Prairie. It's by far the best one in town.

There's not a single Whataburger in the B/CS area with more that one star on Yelp. Since the sale to the Chicago group they have just gone to hell. It's terrible to see. Quality control and customer service are non-existent.

I have sworn them off.

I agree with your point, but they only have breakfast from 11pm to 11am.

WB drips their coffee and puts it in a closed service decanter to keep it warm. There is no heat sourc to keep it warm. They put, or suppose to put, a note on the decanter on when it was made and make another batch after an hour. I go a lot of mornings and it does cool off after an hour or so but are seldom out. I suspect that in the instance of the OP is that they had not had a request for coffee for a few hours and they didn't stay on top of keeping it fresh and hot.

WB has marginal coffee, but then again is doesn't cost $2.85 for 3/4ths of a cup at the coffee shops and refills are free.

Unless I was in a big hurry, I would have waited the 12 minutes for the hot and fresh coffee. I do that with the chicken sandwiches. I walk in and say I what a Whatachicken sandwich and will wait the six minutes for a fresh one.

When I worked at McDonald's in the 1990s- we had to brew fresh coffee on the hour all day long. Today, businesses are trying to save money so quality has diminished greatly. All since COVID and now with this abhorrent economy, things are no longer great or normal. I've just learned to make things at home.

As a coffee addict, and former night shift cop, I will say that it's challenging to find fresh coffee between about 3 pm and 5 am. Even more so between midnight and 5 am. The demand during those hours simply isn't there. If you get hot coffee during those hours, it's almost always burnt from sitting in a heated urn for hours.

About the only places you get fresh coffee at that time is to find a gas station/quicke mart that has machines that make singe cups on demand. IIRC, the Exxon/7-11 at Holleman and 2818 is one such place.

Wow. I stopped by at 0900 this morning. Got a biscuit sandwich very quickly.
Place was extremely clean, I was amazed. Bathrooms sparkled.
I complimented manager and suggested she recognize the employee cleaning the bathrooms, that was a kid worth hiring at any business.
On way out, 2 Whataburger employees were outside starting pressure washing.

After reading this, Wish I would've tried the coffee. Maybe TexAgs had an impact.

Whataburger on Rock Prairie is simply amazing. I work very close to there and everytime I go, my order is right, hot fries, get my Spicy ketchup and the people are almost always smiling. Nothing but love for them.

I'm going to guess it's been a bit since you've been there. We have an annual conference we run there so it's at least an annual occurrence.

The place is filthy disgusting and overrun with homeless people camping out both inside and outside of the building. It's bad.

You would be wrong - we were there this summer for a few days and visited Whataburger Field and the big 2 story one on Shoreline Blvd. Didn't see anything like you describe. There's like 20 Whataburgers in Corpus, as it's where the original is.

I wonder how much the McD lawsuits have impacted other places with regards to serving hot coffee.
