Does anyone have any details on this or is it just a rumor? I was told that construction would start soon after the huge FedEx facility was finished with construction.

I'm fairly plugged in to local construction and I have never heard of this. Also, COB leadership would likely be talking about it publicly if it were real as it would be a great thing for the city and county. Haven't heard a anything about it other than this post.

Other than the new drone facility, no warehouse is planned around here.

A few months back the city of Bryan and I believe maybe Bryan ISD were working on bringing a big company to town but they couldn't say what it was right then. Come to think of it, it might have been a Canadian company. Whatever happened with that?

If it's just a rumor, why doesn't the city try to recruit Amazon to the area? I mean Waco has one, and I believe Temple has recruited a Meta data center to their city. With TAMU, RELLIS, The Bush Combat Development Center, the data center being built at RELLIS, The Health Science Center, etc, why isn't Bryan recruiting these big companies to the area?

Just a question. Why do people want more and more large growth causing more and more traffic problems, lines at restaurants, etc.? We are also already seeing the crime issues increasing greatly with becoming a larger and larger city?

I know there is a benefit of jobs and other opportunities coming to the area but there are consequences to growth. Our high rate of growth is causing huge issues on the street all ready. Yesterday the left turn lane on University turning onto Texas Avenue was backed up all the way to Tarrow. Almost every major street in the twin cities needs to have two more lanes added.

Literally the only place I have heard this "rumor" is this OP in this thread. COB has done a great job of luring large business to town.

Totally agree. And let's not forget what it will do to our already brutal property taxes.

200 years ago the local Tonkawa and Caddo peoples had the same discussions around their campfires concerning the strange new people moving into their area.

Regardless of infrastructure shortcomings, I can't imagine many business owners not liking the idea of a larger local customer base.

I don't mind growth linked to high paying jobs, tax revenue, innovation, etc. I'm not sure Amazon checks any of those boxes.

Our community is growing regardless, primarily due it's good economy & proximity to Houston. What we want is the right kind of growth (high paying skilled jobs). Community leadership & A&M need to work together to foster this through organizations like the BVEDC.

In other words, we can't stop the growth, but we can steer it.

You don't think a population of Amazon delivery drivers will be able to afford the homes that have increased in value and market price in recent years?

Amazon over built and is in a pause right now. I don't see them doing anything in this area for a while.
We'll win this war, but we'll win it only by fighting and by showing the Germans that we've got more guts than they have, or ever will have. We're not going to just shoot the sons-of-b******, were going to rip out their living G*******d guts and use them to grease the treads of our tanks. We're going to murder those lousy Hun c********** by the bushel-f****** basket. War is a bloody killing business. You've got to spill their blood or they will spill yours. Rip them up the belly. Shot them in the guts.

Pappadeaux and Sprouts (at the old LnT, back in 2012) had some real concrete plans behind them before they vanished, not some fanciful imaginations of a TexAgs post.

La Madeline actually put out a press release about coming to Century Square prior to Covid.

I didn't make up this rumor. I was told this by a few local FedEx employees. In all honesty, I didn't think they knew what they were talking about. Something that big coming to town I would have heard about. I had forgotten about it until someone mentioned something about Coulter Field being a backup for the new Amazon Drone delivery service.

I also never said Amazon paid well, but I would still like to see them build a warehouse here. We would have a much faster delivery service.

I wasn't sure about La Madeleine, that's why I didn't mention it. I wasn't trying to specifically imply La Madeleine was conjured up out of thin air.

It does appear that Amazon will at least be using some space in an existing building, 400 Technology Parkway, but it's not a new warehouse, nor in Bryan, and I'm not even sure they'll use the entire facility.

Maybe that's where the rumor came from.

400 Technology Parkway is the new drone delivery location.

Why would a business that pays property tax and generates sales tax revenue be bad for your property taxes?

I spoke to an engineer here doing the work on the project, he said it's only a drone center. No fulfillment center at all.
