It depends upon where you live. I'm in Windwood and have had it since the first week of August.

Getting mine next week. I'm gonna stream 6 TVs every Saturday. Bar is open.

Hopefully it comes to Creek Meadows soon. Suddenlink has been worse than normal at our house lately.

Has the fiber installers been digging in your (or your neighbors) yard recently? If not they are not in your area yet.

The Frontier commercials say now available in College Station. My question is what does that mean for Bryan? Are they expanding in the entire area?

That's the scuttlebutt in the tech world. I see them working along FM 158 in Bryan so the answer is likely yes they will be in Bryan at some point.

So for the really dense (I'm raising my hand) who have blindly relied on the Suddenlink bundle (internet/cable/(useless) phone) forever, what is the upside here? Am I going to save money and have better service/access by going to something like Frontier Fiber and then a streaming service like Fubo or something?

Thanks for helping an old man cross the street ...

Generally, yes.

Get a 100-200mbps internet connection + streaming TV services and it is generally cheaper.

You will need smart TVs or some other smart device to hook to the tv to get the internet onto the TV.

I contacted about Williams court and they said something about it being close but I don't think they've got it up and running yet. You should give them a call though and see because this was a while back.

Guy came in the backyard last weekend to check all the poles/easement as part of a survey for Frontier.

Said it might be 6-12 months for actual service, South Knoll - Glade area

Southwood Valley here.

Was originally told 9/12, then 10/29. Yesterday I was told 11/30 for my street. I know there are some areas of the neighborhood currently being turned on.

I know there have been delays because one of the subcontractors was fired a couple months ago for hitting too many water lines and sprinkler systems.

Frontier contractor was in my yard last week and stated it was to survey for fiber drop. Southside near campus....all aerial drops......He wasn't sure of estimated service dates.

For phone you can use Frontier VoIP and for streaming TV you can sign up with service such as, YouTube TV,Hulu + Live TV., fuboTV., Sling TV or Philo (or many of the other services).

https://www.usnews.com/360-reviews/streaming-services/best-live-streaming-tv

You can save money by choosing the TV/Phone service that fits your needs. AND if that services raises its rates unexpectedly (like suddenlink is prone to do) then you can switch to another.

Competition is always a good thing.

My GF lives in Castlegate and has Frontier (I think standard). She woke up this morning to no internet at all. She was told by Frontier that they were upgrading, and that service would be restored early NEXT WEEK.

So, caveat emptor, I guess.

Looks like Suddenlink has made some changes to internet pricing. They know they will need to be more competitive once we have options. Unfortunately changing their price most likely wont change their poor customer service - LOL!!

300Mbps - 29.99
500Mbps - 39.99
1 Gig - 49.99

I am pretty sure the only frontier service currently available is DSL and not sure the fiber to the home offering has even begun there. The older sections of Castlegate are served directly off the DSLAM in that office who's upstream connection last i was involved with it also served the Wellborn RSU DSLAM's. Its highly unlikely that the person she talked to has any clue what they are talking about.
From the areas I have seen fiber deployed by frontier off remote nodes they have one group adding OLT at the node location and another group doing the field drops. I could see a case for some short outage in the remote node scenario but none in the office hosted scenario. I also believe that DSL is still offered currently in areas that have fiber deployed.

Is that for internet only - no cable? I took a look at our account to see if maybe I could get a lower cost/unlimited data, and to switch to 1 gig, it will be an additional $50, which would take our monthly internet well above $100 a month.
