I'm trying to do a basic check on my elderly parents' caregiver...Just want to see if there are any criminal/civil records against her. I did search Harris County records and found a theft by check from 11 years ago.

Is there a decent -- non-scam -- online records search tool? I found a couple like staterecords.org and beenverified but they seem to be junk.

We use https://www.beenverified.com/ they've been pretty good and fairly inexpensive.

I've used www.publicdata.com for 15+ years.

I use https://www.sentrylink.com for employee background checks. I also use beenverfied, which is very good for skip tracing, but I would not rely on it solely for a background check.

You can create an account on the DPS website. I think you put $20 down as the minimum amount, and it's less than $2 or so to run each person.

I forget the exact amounts, but over 10 years ago, I did this when I owned a duplex that I rented out. I did checks on people before renting to them.

The DPS website is pretty good. We have used that several times.
