When I first heard about this, my first question was did he himself remove it. I asked this because it's near impossible to imagine him doing something so dumb. You might be able to convince me he had someone doing it for him, but not him rolling up and snatching a sign in his personal vehicle. We are talking about a very intelligent individual. To be clear, I don't know him personally but have been around him and know of him. I'm sure I'll get slammed for posting this, but it just doesn't make sense to me. Maybe he's gone off the deep end all of the sudden, but otherwise it is a hard sell.
Did you miss this part?
Friday, CSPD detectives confirmed to KBTX that
Schaefer admitted to taking the sign. Police said if the municipal court accepts the case, they could issue a summons charging him with theft of property, a Class C misdemeanor, because the cost of the sign is $100 or less.
It was monumentally stupid just to steal the sign. At this point he's barely above the local race hoaxer by at least admitting he did it. But not to be outdone he takes it further. How stupid can you be to double down on it and demand an apology from your opponent for stealing his sign? This borders on absolute insanity in my opinion.
