Drove past A&M golf course today and lots of people were golfing. There were like 3 golf carts at one hole. That doesn't seem like social distancing. Keep it up people and we will be quarantined all of May.

Did you drive by Target, Walmart, Heb, or Kroger?

Most courses are allowing only 1 person per cart. Plenty of space for 3 people to spread out on a hole.

Are they leaving the pin in?

Many courses have flipped the cups so the ball can't drop. Other are using pool noodles on the flags to keep balls out of the holes.

Also, rakes have been removed, ball washers are gone, and other things like that.

1 per cart, cup is out, 1 person at a time in the clubhouse. No rakes, golf ball cleaners, divot repair sand bottles, ice chest, etc. More social distancing on the golf course than on the neighborhood sidewalks.

Sounds like A&M golf course has good rules in place.
Here's official website.

https://golfclubtamu.com/

When visiting the club:
1. We will allow only one person in the pro shop at any given time.
2. Cash will not be accepted. Only credit/debit cards.
3. Outside food and beverage will not be allowed on property, however sodas, beer, bottled water and packaged snacks will be available in the clubhouse.
4. Observe Social Distancing at all times.
On the Course:
1. There will be no water stations on the golf course. Bottled water is available in the clubhouse.
2. The bunker rakes have been removed from the golf course, as well as all ball washers and sand bottles.
3. Only one person allowed per cart to maintain social distancing.
4. Leave the flagstick in the hole; do not handle.
5. Do not share clubs.
6. Avoid shaking hands.
We need all of our staff, members, and guests to make good decisions, be safe and pay attention to Social Distancing. Please stay at home if you feel ill or suspect you have been exposed to COVID-19.

I was one who didn't take this seriously the first week but understood what it could become after that. There are a ton of people living here who still could give a crap what is going on especially the college kids who have hung around. So many of them at Jones Crossing HEB just walking around without a care in the world who this could effect.

What are they supposed to do for groceries if you don't want them shopping? Or were they walking close to people and not giving space?

If you want to get distance from me, stand in the fairway.

I'll lay a hundo that I pass closer to more people on evening walks around my neighborhood than I would at the golf course. And I maintain at least 10 ft. separation.

A drive by observation of three carts at one tee means nothing if you can't tell what distance the individuals are keeping from one another.

They could wear a mask in the store as recommended by the CDC and they could use good social distancing while out shopping.

A LOT of people aren't doing either of those yet.

I've been playing golf since I was 6. Outside of riding in a cart I have never been within 6' of a fellow player. 1 man to a cart makes golf almost 100% safe as others have pointed out.

Go straight to what you need to get, grab it and get out. Not play around in the aisles like middle school children or stop and have conversations with other people for 5 minutes. In their minds I am young, "they" say I can't get it, I am going to go around and do what I want no matter how it can effect other people.

I agree with the rest of your point; masks, distance, walk with a purpose without playing, etc.

However, I doubt many think they can't get this...

It was at Lowe's in Bryan and CS today
hardly anyone was wearing a mask
families everywhere

I'm playing golf next week , staying 6 ft from
someone on a golf course is super easy.

These rules are dumb and not beneficial unless I am missing something. How does forcing me to buy your drinks and snacks and the added interaction it will involve help anything?

While I agree golfing is way more distanced than grocery shopping, there is no way your statement is true. I cannot think of a single time other than playing solo where I have not been within 6' of another player on almost every hole. It would be very easy to not get within 6' of someone though.

Throw a water bottle or two in your bag. Nobody will know...or really care.

Or make a scene in the clubhouse for doing what they can to keep golf open.

Their course, their rules.

You have the freedom to not pay them money to golf there.

"Forcing"... ha!

I have no problem with golf course staying open at TAMU course.

To make it safer for everyone.

No interaction between golfers and staff.
Pay by mail or online.
Bring your own bottled water.
Golf carts remain at the clubhouse. Walk the course (exercise is good for you)
Keep your distance.

Do you stand by someone else when they are playing a shot or reading a putt? I never do. Out of courtesy I keep my distance and allow them their space to play their shot. YMMV but I never get close to anyone while playing unless we are in a cart together.
