Can't even begin to count how many times have seen dog owners let their dog's take a crap at city parks or along sidewalks and just leave it.
Is there not a law or ordinance that says you have to pick it up?

Go ahead and enforce it.

Better yet, get a cop to enforce it right now.

I'm pretty sure we've got more to worry about these days than dogs crapping on public property.

Ehhh...dogs poop outside. I pick up my dog's poop because it's courteous, but I don't really care about others...it will dry up in a day and become soil in a few more

Dog poop does not decompose in a couple days and yes you should absolutely pick up after your dog. Especially on others property
I want to say it's a law.. I know certain Austin and Houston have ordinances against it.. not sure about BCS

The ordinance should be over at the city website. I think there is something about picking up after your dog from what I remember in past discussions (Nextdoor). Although I'm not sure how they would enforce it?

actually it becomes pollution when it rains and that runoff goes into the ditches and streams.

Many urban area have water quality problems in their surface water from pet runoff.

Walk our dog night and morning except during heavy rain. Unbelievabe how many folks do not pick up after their dogs. Recently have picked up poop on the sidewalk 5 foot from the cani-poti with bags. Neighbor and I try to always have extra bags with us to pickup after our dogs and others. Much poop left on sidewalks and in yards where there are cani-poti and bags along the street.

The ones that really get me are when people let their dog crap on the sidewalk or walking trail where you know for a fact that people are going to be having to either dodge it or step in it. It's irresponsible pet ownership.

Copied from College Station animal control ordinances:

"Sec. 6-8. - Problem animals. It is unlawful to be an owner or manager of an animal which engages in behavior constituting problem animal behavior. Each of the following is a problem behavior of animals:

(1) Waste removal. An animal which soils, defiles or defecates on private property other than the owner's or on public areas, unless such waste is immediately removed and disposed of; ... ."

Report violation to Animal Control, (979) 764-3600.
Fine: up to $500.00

What is cani-poti? I mean, I can kind of tell from the two words considering what we're talking about...but not completely.

More pollution than the plastic bags to pick it up?

You should definitely pick up after your dog ... just not sure about the dog poop equals pollution argument!
