Anyone here in BCS have a metal cutting band saw that could cut some 2.25" round for me? Needing 12 cuts on some GR60 material and want it to be a nice clean/straight cut. Would be happy to pay or buy a new blade.
How straight? Our little saw is terrible right now, but the big saw could do it within 0.030" of flat fairly easily. We could also just cut them in the saw and face them in the lathe. Shop minimum is 1hr and our rate would be between $60-$80 for that. Don't see why it would take more than an hour.
It really depends on the customer, forging equipment, and type of forging. On the mechanical presses, we'll make runs of up to 2000 pcs. On our hammers, we'll run anywhere between 20-500 pcs in a setup. Price definitely depends on quantity though. The smaller orders, like a 20 pc run, will ultimately cost more per pc than a 500 pc run.
I have an evolution saw. It is not an abrasive chop saw, but uses a carbide blade to make really impressive cuts. No sparks, no heat, and it can cut wood, pvc, steel.
The saw is really nice for cutting pvc without burrs.
