Howdy y'all.

Been awhile since I've done anything in College Station besides football games and going to eat in town. Plus, I went to A&M Galveston so not much time was spent in town.

Looking for ideas for a possible date. Northgate is probably off the list.

According to several websites returned by a google search of "fun things to do in College Station", it is enjoyable to:

1. Go to the GWB Library
2. Go to Anderson Park
3. Go to Post Oak Mall.

While these may be thrilling for a visitor, such results are really disheartening on a Sunday afternoon with bored kids.

Edit for a serious answer:

Escape rooms can be fun. New Republic Brewery is hit or miss. And, there's always Anderson Park.

I know it is not College Station, but Downtown Bryan, especially if it is this Friday night because it will be First Friday and its a nice time IMHO.

For a date, try Ronin, The Republic, or Veritas.

Messina Hof for sure. There are a couple of other wineries in town but I haven't been to them so can't speak to them. If you are in town the first Friday of a month, the First Friday in downtown Bryan is worth checking out. The Queen also shows films now, so check out there schedule to see what is showing because it is great since it was renovated.

Century Square provides a lot of dining and shopping options. If the weather is nice, you can go out to the Stella and Lake Walk. You can rent paddle boards from the Stella and go out on the lake. It is a great spot out there and the observation tower is neat.

Best overall option for a date is Century Square. There are multiple options for food, from super casual but fun (Hopdoddy's, Mo's pub) to middle to upper end (Poppy's, Porter's). There's a dine-in movie theater. There's a cool retro candy store with ice cream to go to after dinner. There's a nice central green to just hang out, chat, and relax. There are large red rocking-chairs-for-2 (think a super wide rocking chair) all around the outdoor pool at the George hotel. There's a cool whiskey bar in the George.

One stop and you're set for all sorts of activities.

What kind of date we talking here?

Maybe it's the first date, you're worried what you're going to talk about, so you need a spot that's good, but is casual and that also has good people watching in case you run out of small talk -- Downtown Bryan (Proudest Monkey, RX Pizza, All the King's Men, Caffe Capri)

You want to do something that they maybe haven't done in C/S: New Republic Brewery, there are usually some art shows on First Friday in Downtown Bryan, a movie at The Queen theater, go to a local play at the Theatre Company or StageCenter, live music at Smitty K's,

You want to go somewhere nice, maybe grab a drink afterward -- Porter's, The Republic, Ronin (all good restaurants within walking distance of bars; or in the case of The Republic there's a bar inside it)

What other kind of date types am I missing? Northgate is actually a pretty good date spot if you stick to the right spots, my wife and I's first date was at Rough Draught. You could do a bar like that and then maybe play some yard games at The Backyard or something.

There's also 'we've been dating forever and want to get weird with it' - The Cowboy Club, I think the Ptarmigan has risen from the dead, Rockies, etc.

Yeah, this is a 1st date. Both of us are mid-30's. She has been living is town for 5 years, and I'm coming from out of town. Most of my experience in College Station is Aggie games, hanging out back during college, and going to a few chain restaurants.

Both of us like sports and the outdoors. I dropped Northgate, and she nixed that.

A little bit of a drive but Franklin Safari. Plenty of areas to walk around and the animals will break the ice and awkwardness.

For a request specifically asking for things in College Station y'all sure are coming up with a lot of things that aren't in town.

I think I'd definitely recommend downtown Bryan if you're talking about tomorrow. Lots of options.

Downtown Bryan isn't in College Station, either.

There's a speak easy in the basement of the La Salle hotel in downtown Bryan. The last time the wife and I were kids free we went and it was pretty cool. Awesome drinks.
