James Otto Earhart, there's a name I haven't heard in a very long time. Not really a surprise though given what he did to Kandy Kirtland wasn't the actions of someone who had never committed a crime like that before.

Too bad when they dig him up we can't execute him a second time.

The death of Ginger Freeman has truly been something that has haunted me for years. I was a new mother at the time she was murdered and it shook me to my core. I was the mother of a kindergartener when Kandy lost her life to this beast. Thank God he was brought to justice on that charge and has had to face his maker. God bless Sheriff Kirk and Kenny Elliott and God bless the man who gave his DNA to contribute to solving this horrible crime. What a relief for her family.

I would not be shocked if they run his DNA through the databases of unsolved crimes and find more than one match. It seems they are all but certain he killed Ruth Green as well, but can't say with absolute certainty.

Probably safe to say he was a serial killer.

I remember the Kandy Kirtland murder. She was just a year younger than me and that whole thing had this town on edge. Sad series of events.

I remember my mom showed me where that monster lived. Some old beat up ass house behind Hot Dogs, Etc. in Bryan. I remember a lot of junk outside of that place. I don't know if it's still there.

Curious... way back when i was in school... i cant remember if i was in 5th grade or high school, cause both were right next to each other.. Lamar was 5th grade and by bryan high.. bout 1979-85ish or so... there was a little girl murdered and her body was dumped around that area... is this Kandy? or was it someone else?

The Kandy Kirtland murder was a big deal growing up around here. Haven't heard that name in years.

I still think about Kandy Kirtlands murder when I drive past that section of Villa Maria. The area looks a lot different now, but that memory just won't go away. RIP sweet girl.
