Interesting. Now I know we are a "satellite city." Had a discussion with friends while at Urban Bricks pizza the other day about this. Obviously we're not a suburb or ex-burb, I was wondering what descriptive terminology exists other than "college town."

I tried to tell my wife, I didn't think it should be called "Urban Bricks" since we aren't in an urban area. That met with heavy eye rolls from my wife and kids. I'm sure they'll miss the dad jokes when I'm gone though.

College Station-Bryan is the correct name from a demographer view. Because CS is larger than Bryan.

Or Tuscaloosa or Fayetteville or Lexington or Gainesville or Auburn or Baton Rouge, hell even freaking Starkville has a downtown and it's more middle of nowhere than BCS. This is literally the only SEC town without a downtown area (yeah, I know, there's Bryan... cue the complainers... "It's too far!")

Everything within town is 20 mins max away with traffic. There is no such thing as too far, just spoiled townies.

I have a friend who once referred to it as "a suburb of itself." Always seemed apt to me!

and they are the ones who are from houston/san antonio/austin/dallas who had to drive 45 minutes or more, in traffic, just to get a cup of coffee...

and they gripe that downtown is 5 minutes from tamu main campus.

I don't like slideshows. Here's what OP is referring to.

Same could be said about a number of places. Anderson in Grimes is one example. But the census and other government agencies now use CS-B due to the population.

It will always go back and forth. Civic pride and all that. But it's still considered locally by many to be Bryan College Station. It's still that way in the name of the Convention & Visitors Bureau, for instance.

Actrually it should be Bryan-College Station.

You don't say Texas, College Station rather than College Station, Texas. or Texas, Navasota rather than Navasota, Texas.

Except it isn't called the Convention and Visitor's Bureau anymore, techo.

I was waiting for that. Except, it still uses Bryan first, even in the website name "experiencebcs.com"

Saying College Station-Bryan is like saying a jelly and peanut butter sandwich.

It's way better than people who says C-Stat though.

That median home price is for College Station only, not the cities combined.

I feel like when bcs is featured on these lists, they always choose the worst pictures.

We locals will probably always say Bryan/College Station; however the correct Metropolitan Statistical designation is to refer to it as College Station/Bryan because of the populations of each city.
***It's your money, not theIRS! (At least for a little while longer.)

Bryan/College Station or College Station/Bryan is not the real issue, what is really important is that you include "South" if your from that part of College Station.
AggiePhil
How long do you want to ignore this user?
"South City".
