Hey guys, my fianc and I are getting married in August. We are both Ags and fortunate enough that I will be coming back to the promised land for work. I will be in College Station in about a month and she will join me after our wedding. We plan to purchase a home, but we are unable to make it down to College Station and vet homes we are interested in at this time.

We have been looking for a short term lease that will allow us time to find the right home. Ideally we would like to rent something for 4 months but understand that will be difficult and are more realistically looking at a minimum of a 6 month lease. Our budget is negotiable with the understanding that we may have to pay a premium for a short lease agreement.

If anyone has anything they would like to rent or know of anything that we might be interested in, any information would be greatly appreciated. Additionally, while we aren't ready to buy just yet, if anyone is planning on selling a home or knows of anything, we would be interested in hearing about that as well.

Please let me know if you guys have any suggestions, information, leads or if there is any additional information I left out that.

We are looking for a 3/2 or 4/2.

In regards to location we are primarily looking in south College Station. That may change when we get down there and get a better feel for where we want to be, which is an additional reason why we are waiting to purchase.

A short term lease is going to be difficult to find this time of year because nobody is desperate. It's much easier in mid to late August. Unless you want to call every apartment complex in town, I would suggest looking on Craigslist or use a locator service. Since I live here, my friends ask me to help them find a place for their kids from time to to time and I used Aggieland Apartment Finders.

You tell them what you want and they will do the legwork. They may well tell you that there aren't any options for short term leases right now.

There will be someone that will say that they had a horrible experience with them and will never use them again (just like every other business in town). I've never had a major issue pop up with them.

I have some clients that just signed a lease at Hunter's Point Apartments while their house is being built. They do 6 month leases. The Landmark on Longmire does them too. They may not be super glamorous... but neither charge an absurd premium for short term leases. Best of luck!

I was in the exact same boat as you 6 months ago. We had the hardest time finding a lease anywhere for 6 months. We got lucky and the Barracks Townhomes had a few units that hadn't been leased. It's not ideal living in an area filled with college kids right after being married, but for 6 months it's not bad.

But we were looking in December/January when the owners were desperate for tenants....
