Local Aggies, can you recommend a place to buy a ready to eat ham? Not grocery store but local business. We are planning Thanksgiving meal with family at a friends house before the game.

If you make the drive out to Slovacek's in Snook, they have some really great smoked hams.

What kind of a ham? The old style salt cured country hams are probably a little harder to find and pricier (but worth it). Readfield's might have them though.

Ham or smoked turkey, Readfield's is the place... that reminds me I need to call and order mine!

My family ranks Readfield's first, followed by Sam's with a smoked pineapple, cherry, and clove homemade glaze, or Honey Baked.

This year from a gift card I ordered green bean casseroles and cheesecakes from Omaha Steaks. I think today or tomorrow guarantees delivery prior to Thanksgiving. I asked about other products and the customer service lady raved about their turkey and pork chops. I didn't like the truffle pasta or the stuffed baked potatoes and they offered an immediate refund.

But this year I think we are going to BBQ smoked baby backs, Slovacek's links, and maybe smoked turkey breast with from scratch sage stuffing.

Ham is the worst part of the pig.

I went to Snook after my appt. and got a fully cooked turkey. I was thinking of trying to make a reduction gravy from a smoked leg, the neck, peppercorns, and butter...I just made that part up, it probably won't work.
