Anywhere in the BCS area where I can purchase a load of mesquite wood? My brother has requested that I bring some home with me in a few weeks. Worst case is to buy it by the sack at Academy, if they even sell it there - it's been a while since I've been in the grilling area.

I'd call Cafe Eccel and see where they get theirs.

I buy mesquite infused charcoal. Some of the big city grilling stores carry bags of chips. You can order them from Lowe's & Home Depot, dunno if they're available at the BCS locations.

I would check with a few of the firewood dealers. Some sell mesquite.

Also, make sure the wood you get is a year or two old. No sense in hauling 1/3 of the weight in water.

HEB has a nice selection of wood chips.

There are many firewood dealers and mesquite cooking wood processing companies in Texas and may be close depending on where you are going. I have been to ones in McKinney, Ennis, and Pleasanton and many other locations. Most of them would be glad to sell to a person visiting.

Google "mesquite firewood and cooing wood processors in Texas" and you will be able to locate them.

JCody's uses mesquite...might check as to their source.

if u go to bastrop and exit 21 to san marcos, there is a couple of guys selling mesquite on their property...

its about 5-6 miles after u turn onto 21 and on the left..

they have LOTS...

i stop by looking for root balls or burls for making bowls..
