Has anyone used them? If so what is your opinion of them?

Absolutely a rip off. Join care.com or find a friend with an account and you'll get 10x better clean at 1/2 the price.

Our experience with MaidPro was that the owner made the workers sign non-competes. Then, when the workers leave because they realize their cut is tiny, she uses it to keep them from open up their own shop (no problem there as a business owner). Where it went south is when she called and threatened to subpoena my wife and I because our cleaner went off on her own and she wanted us to testify that the individual had told us the plan, blah blah blah.

When their cleaning wasn't good and they were expensive I didn't care because the wife was happy.

When they couldn't keep their drama within the confines of their place of work, we both agreed that a change was immediately necessary.

With the number of college kids in town, there isn't a reason for MaidPro unless you don't feel like doing any legwork.

Agree with #BTHOtu, it's a ripoff. Same goes for Molly Maids.

To put a few specifics, one of our tenants a few years ago worked part time for one of them, I forget which. They were paying her $12 or $14 an hour, but they were billing her services out at $125 an hour. So she was only getting paid 12%, the service was keeping the other 88%. After about 2 years with them, she had collected enough regular clients that she quit the service and struck out on her own. We now use her for only $40 an hour and she keeps 100%.

I've heard Louie Belina advertise for Molly Maid on AM 1150. Don't know anything about them though.

Sounds about right.

Molly Maids is worse then MaidPro.

We went Molly Maids to MaidPro to Care.com

Our cleans were about $150 each and through care.com they are $50, plus the person isn't watching the clock.

Who the hell would pay $125/hour for one person to clean their home? That's NUTS! I could almost see that rate for two people.

Molly Maid works similarly as MaidPro, but is almost 25% less. I can't vouch for their cleaning, but I got estimates from many companies in January. MaidPro was one of the most expensive.

With those companies, two people usually come out. For example, MaidPro's estimate for me was 3.5 hours of work with two ladies for $130 a cleaning.

Last time I used Maid Pro, I learned 3 hours isn't 3 hours. If I spent 3 hours cleaning my house, every nook and cranny would be spotless. To them, 3 hours = 1.5 hours when they send two people. Crazy expensive and not very clean. I even had them skip rooms because they were running out of time.

Thanks for all the info. I'm at a lost for finding a housekeeper. I have called a list of individual names referred to me with no one calling back. MaidPro and Molly Maids were the only ones that did. I guess there is a huge demand with a low supply in this area! I've never heard of Care.com and not comfortable with websites like that. Would rather have a person refer to me personally. Thanks again!

From reading about cleaning services in the past, I know Erica with Dust Bunnies seems to get the lions share of recommendations 979-571-1893

for $125/hour they better be sending at least 4 people to my house. $130 for 7 hours (2 x 3.5). That's not a bad rate. My experience paying for a cleaning person has always been $XX for specific items to be cleaned, so they can bust ass or drag ass it doesn't matter.

I recently used Acosta Housekeeping to get my house ready to sell. The owner, Diane Acosta, was great to work with! She arrived on the scheduled day with one other worker and got the entire house spotless in the time she said. They were probably there 3 or 4 hours and it only cost me $200. Great service! Will definitely be using her again and would highly recommend to anyone who needs a clean house. I don't have her card on hand but will update later with her contact info.

Maid Pro rarely sends two people to do the house and if they do, it just means they just cut the time that they are there in half. With one person, I think it works out to about $35/HR. Plus they provide all supplies and are insured. Not going to say they do a great job, but most of the time it is pretty good. And if I point out something they missed or is not done to our satisfaction, it is always corrected.

You can also use www.Thumbtack.com to ask for bids from local cleaning services. You will get back up to 5 bids, you look at their profiles, and reviews then decide who you want to hire. You pay nothing. The company pays to submit a bid to you
