I know this has been discussed before but since I haven't had to look for infant daycare in 4 years, perhaps there are new places in town that I don't know of!

We live in South CS, so we are looking for something in that area so we wouldn't be interested in something in Bryan. Looking for a place with good communication and not too many teacher changes. We are hoping to keep it in the 700-800/month range but I am sure prices have gone up since then!

Thank you in advance!!

Please do not recommend Peas in Pod--we had a horrible experience with them with our first little one. In fact, if you are looking for childcare as well and have considered them, feel free to email me (username @ gmail) and I will tell you about our experience.

We love St Thomas Aquinas. We were also on the wait list for Covenant but got in at STA first.

Primrose is where both of my kids are, been there since the beginning and the youngest was in the crawlers class. Prices are up there but have been totally happy with the place and how Holly & her team runs it. Probably a long wait but doesn't hurt to ask.

The only thing I've felt that is a bit of a struggle is the amount of turnover. It seems like every few months a teacher swap happens in one of the classes...student workers class schedules, moving, etc., but again, the staff handles it very well and they adjust quickly.

Primrose was great the first year it opened and then went downhill. I would not recommend them to anyone. I have heard great things about Covenant and St Thomas Aquinas though.

If you're looking in south college station, I used to hear great things about longmire learning center.

Longmire is fantastic, but they don't take infants.

Thanks for the feedback! Oh we absolutely love Longmire....our older kiddo goes there now. I wish they would open it up to infants!

I've heard people say great things about Covenant so I'll search there first. I thought of Primrose but they have some questionable reports on the State website that made me feel uneasy.

I went and read them, I was surprised about a child being spanked by a caregiver. One of mine went there for 8 weeks in the summer until school started back up and she didn't like one of the teachers (said she was mean to her). I also noticed that they would tell her things like not to wear a pair of close toed crocs or she wasn't allowed to have a particular cup for her water but they would never say anything to me. Other than that, never had a problem.

We went to Covenant over 3 years ago. Have no complaints.

I have two daughters and live in your area, so I'm familiar with your struggle to find some place you trust and does not have a ton of turnover. We started at Eagle's Nest with my oldest but then moved her due to the lack of consistency in her caregivers. We too did the Peas in a Pod deal and I was pleased with them until I discovered they were basically letting her hang out up front in stead of making her stay in the class room and actually do "stuff". She became the secretary's favorite and she basically just hung out. Since she was older than 2 at that point we went to Longmire Learning Center and that was the end of it until Kindergarten.

My wife found that little Montessori school close to Longmire right off the Hwy 6 feeder for our second daughter. We loved the classroom teacher and the rates were in your price range. The lady up front was not awesome, but the owner and classroom teacher were pretty cool. She was only there for a year. Once she turned 2 we put her in Longmire like we did with her sister.

We're having a third in June and I'm in the same boat. Not sure where to send them prior to getting them in Longmire (which I believe might be the best care center in Brazos County).

We've heard good things about St. Thomas, and we're Catholic, but attend Mass at St Joes in Bryan.

Tour them and that Montessori place and see what you think. That's my best advice.

Let me know if you find some place else because I'll be in your shoes in 8 months.

Thank you again for all of your responses! After looking at the state site, reading here, and going on tours, we decided on Covenant but will switch to Longmire once the little one turns 2. I agree welborn...seriously the best care in town!

BTW Welborn, your experience at Peas in a Pod does not surprise me. We had a similar experience--started off good but ended horribly. I do anything in my power to steer people away from there--I truly believe that her center will be shut down at some point.

Personally, I believe when the owner's children get to the age where they attend public school, she'll close her doors willingly.

If yall are considering Covenant, I'll look into that myself for us. We may be following in your footprints.

It's tough at first, but once you get to LLC, it's by far less stressful. Amie runs a good ship and we've become family friends of that entire staff. Cant say enough about LLC.

We will be leaving Peas in a Pod very soon. Just lots of little things that add up to big things that we are not happy with.

Sorry to hear that...although not a surprise. Don't second guess your feelings especially when they try to make you stay. I'll bet there are more bad things going on that you don't even know about. Going through that experience really opened by eyes and made me realize that I should never give a daycare the benefit of the doubt and risk my child's well being.

If your kiddo is 2+, you should check out Longmire Learning Center. We have been over the moon happy here.
