Call the nearest prison. Usually they charge parts +$5. It gives the inmates something to fix and teach a trade with.

momlaw, the ASABE lawn mower tuneup was last weekend. Great option before every Spring though.

I will second Rick Watson. He is very talented, quick, runs a clean shop, and charges a very fair price.

Never heard that prisoner's fixed anything, but it would be cooler if they did!

Supposedly, all the states are strapped for cash, and everyone is broke. Why not put the prisoners to work (provided each prisoner agreed & wanted to work - Judge William Wayne Justice said work ain't good for the boys, circa 1972).

Anyway, imagine if prisons were more self sufficient. I think we have too much talent behind bars that is withering away.

Don't remember the name but the place on Coulter in Bryan just off of Texas Ave is good. Have used them twice.

Ok can't stand it anymore.
Buddy's does not repair lawn equipment. Figure this is a troll on Pirates part but every time someone asks this question its his recommendation.
Ike's is only interested in fixing it for you if you bought it there. You go there and tell them you need X fixed and they tell you how you should have bought Y from them, and no they don't work on X. Last time I went they were big on troy built, and not the kind you buy from a big box store which is what I had. The stuff I did buy from them they do great work on.
Go see Rick.
Bob fixed the tiller Ike's said was a POS but repair (stuck valve) only lasted a few week.
Have bought parts from Ed (in the mini warehouse) to re-repair the POS tiller.

Ike's tried to burn me on a warranty repair (Briggs-Stratton/MTD).."yes, we're a certified warranty center"... 2 days later ....
"no, it's looks like it might be ethanol related, so it's not covered under warranty (after accepting the mower and doing diagnosis)....estimated repair was $75 ($140 mower new)"
(Me)...."the manual says standard gas w/up to 10% ethanol is acceptable...give me my mower back"
(Them) "so sorry, please pay for our time and the NEW spark plug we installed" (mower still will not run).
(Me) "keep your new plug, give me my mower, you bill MTD for your time"...which is what finally happened (well, not sure on the MTD part...).

The only reason I did not initially try to repair it myself was the mower was 3 months old, looked like new....warranty work was justified. I dis-assembled the carb, found and removed some icky gummy gunk probably fuel related, re-assembled and it runs fine. Took me about thirty minutes, less time if it happens again.

Ok - I've had mowers repaired on a couple of occasions at Ike's that were NOT items I had bought there. They always do a good job at a fair price in a reasonable amount of time.

I also recommend Lonny's Lawn Mower Repair and More on Boonville across from Central Baptist.

I believe the place FlyRod is referring to on Coulter was called We Fix It. It's been closed for a few years.

I can vouch for the deal that IKE's only works on what they sell. That being said who wants to spend $100 on a mower they spent $200 on.

over 90% are ethanol related (look at almost all OEM's as they will not warranty ethanol issues) It is a major issue for small engines, so much so that some Companies are extending the warranties if you purchase an amount of their proprietary ethanol free gas (husquavarna)

Do not let ethanol touch these small two strokes (the orifices simply will not take it)
