Where's the best place for soup or chili around town?

My guess is that at Golden Corral, you can get both, and in as massive a quantity as you'd like.

Buen provecho!

Thanks curry! I did think to myself "Let's Go To The Mall" but then realized there were no good options there.

Panera has SEVERAL soup options - and they're all good in my book. Added bonus - you can have it in a sourdough bread bowl

Believe it or not the chili and the chicken noodle soup at Wings-n-More are the best in town in my opinion.
Shipwreck has Gumbeaux and the clam chowder at Fish Daddy's are pretty solid also.

Guh, I eat so much soup. Such is the life of a vegetarian who doesn't really like sandwiches and is willing to look the other way in the face of chicken broth so as to not be an ******* at restaurants.

Blue Baker's cheddar tomatillo and roasted red pepper bisque are good. Broccoli cheddar there is bland, and tomato is thin and inconsistent.

Cuco's has an awesome veggie tortilla soup (no meats! but i suspect the broth is chicken).

McAllister's has veggie chili if you're just too lazy to make some yourself. Other soups I've tried are not very good.

Panera's soups are pretty good, but salty. Their black bean soup and broccoli cheddar pretty tasty, though. I'm getting phantom sodium swells thinking of them.

Village has good daily soups, and so does Washbangers - but no tasty crusty bread or garnish or anything.

Blackwater has a really good beer cheese soup, and while the experience there is extremely hit or miss, the soups I've had have all been total hits. There was this (winter) squash one that was amazing, and tasted like something I'd make at home. Dang, it was so good.

Aaaalso, it's totally awesome soup making weather! Pull out the extra big LC dutch oven and simmer up something way better than the meager offerings here, if you're into that sort of stuff!

The soups at Madden's and The Republic are very good.

I am not aware that any place in BCS makes "authentic" Texas chili...and yes I realize what sort of an argument that statement can precipitate.

Thanks everybody! Some of those places like Fuego and Wings, I never would have thought of for soup!

Elite - Gumbo and chili sound delish and I never would have thought of those places! Thanks!

K2T2 - I'm always up for making soups, however, the problem is I was looking for something quick today! You should share some recipes if you've got them!

Can of black beans (drained)
Can of corn (drained)
Can of rotel
Can of tomato sauce
2 chicken breasts
2 cans of water (out of rotel can)
Ranch and taco seasoning
-Cook chicken, then combine all ingredients plus chicken into pot or crockpot. Cook in crockpot for a few hours or about an hour on stove top. Add enough taco seasoning to please your taste buds, unsure of exact amount I just add it and try it and add some more if needed. Usually add about half a ranch seasoning packet. Top with tortilla chips, sour cream, cheese, whatever you like!
It's a simple soup but the wife and I enjoy it

I like the gumbo from fish daddys. Get it to-go for lunch all the time. Bowl of gumbo and a small caesar salad for $6.50.

Panera's soup is far overpriced.

I was told they make it in a plant, freeze bags of it, and the soup bag is thawed in hot water.

Come to think of it, most soup in town is overpriced.

For chili--when you're in a pinch and in a hurry (or even when you're not)--try Wendy's. With optional cheese and onions, obviously a great choice on cold days. In fact, I've been through at times when they've already sold out for the day!
