I caught a tow truck in the process of towing my car once. He had put it on the jacks but hadn't moved or even hooked it up to the truck yet. Cost me $50 to lower the car 4". I'd bet you would be paying at least $100 if you actually want the car moved.
Call 6 friends and ask them to push it?
Agree with Dubi...If that thing can roll then it's time to push push push it. I have been pushed by another vehicle with a tire in between for 2 miles. I have been towed over 5 miles by a 71 GMC truck, using electrical conduit, all the time the driver drinking Schlitz.

It sounds like friends may be the way to go. Had to push my car home not that long ago, maybe 1/4 mile. Yay for manual transmissions and a slightly downhill path.
However- I've had good luck with Thweatt (now I've roadside, so it's whatever company insurance calls.) Thweatt has towed vehicles for me...oh hades three times. The first was a normal tow truck, about 7 miles, $47-50.
Second two were both flatbeds, and ran about $65, maybe 5-7 miles too. It's been about a year since I last used them.

I guess the OP is not "avoiding the ban"?
Also recommend finding a friend with a AAA membership. Any type of roadside assistance service would probably include a free tow. Most car dealerships add this as part of your maintenance package when you buy a car. Wouldn't hurt to call your car dealer and ask if you have that as an option.
