How long do you want to ignore this user?
How do I go about getting this done? Who in town does this? Only the gas company? Would this be expensive?

TIA

Gas lines need to be installed by licensed plumbers.

Around $800 I think and licensed plumbers only.

Anything on your side of the meter is your responsibility. If you want to run a gas line, you will need to contact a licensed plumber of your choosing.

The others on this thread have no idea what they're talking about.

You need to call a licensed plumber.

In a perfect world, you'd be asking this before the form work on your slab was finished (and, you'd have access to a licensed plumber).

Then, you could have run a stub out to where the patio or deck would go.

In a less perfect world--one with a poured slab and finished house, there would be a gas line already in place, near the desired grill location.

In that happy circumstance, a licensed plumber could rig you up a tap from that like to the outside of the house.

In the next level of unhappy circumstance, there would be absolutely nothing of value along the edge of the slab back all the way back to the meter (no prize plants, sidewalks, water/sewer/electrical lines, irrigation piping, etc.)

Then, the licensed plumber could run the ditchwitch and/or min excavator and lay in the yellow pipe preferred for underground installation.

The answer you are likely to get from the licensed plumber you call is that they can tap the line to the heater, tee off that, and run iron pipe across the attic, then bore some messy holes to run still more iron pipe down the wall, to terminate at the fitting you need.

All to discover that such lines are fine for fixed grill installations (the flex line winds up being an inconvenient leash).

If, in fact, you are planning an Outdoor Kitchen, it's good to get the early input of a
Licensed Plumber.
