Looking at a couple of different home builders. Trying to see if anyone has used Kenny for their home.

There were about 16 homes built on Rocky Vista in Castle Rock between late 2010 and mid-2011. You can see which ones if they are if you look at the records on BrazosCad. I would recommend talking to those homeowners.

Kenny built our last home. He did an excellent job along with giving a great price. We talked him into installing a Rinnai tankless, and he ended up making that standard.

Kenny Meleski is a great guy and builds nice homes at very good prices. He uses Luis Ponce Construction to do his foundations, best concrete company hands down!!!!!

Kenny built a home for us in Edelweiss that our kids used while at A&M. Good quality, great price but his followup was terrific. Fixed any problems we had even several years later. Neighbors told us wished they had used him.

We have a KM Custom home in Castle Rock and have had very few issues and any issues we've had (all minor), he's taken care of immediately. Great guy to work with.

I have a KM in Dove Crossing (off Graham) if you would like to see with your own eyes, how it's holding up. (i did this before hiring him) Very pleased with the house...happy to see the changes he has made in recent years, know guys that have worked with/for him - all good. As for KM himself, I cannot say enough good about him! His name is attached to your house....and that means a lot to him! Seriously, stop by and check it out! Username at a o l dot com

Thanks for all the responses! We have met with two builders so far, CGM and KM. The wife would like to meet with one more. Any suggestions?

Heath Townsend is a great builder. I would encourage you to talk with him.

I would do your research very carefully before you settle on a builder. I know several people who have had very negative experiences with Heath Townsend. His temper makes him very hard to work with and he doesn't communicate well at all. Have heard great things about KM homes as well as Blackstone and Bluestone. I'm sure every builder has their flaws, though.

Heath builds a great home, but his ego is tough to work around. I talked to him on the phone before we built and in that short time span I decided he was not one I want to spend the next 4-6 months working with. It might work for others, but our personalities just didn't mesh well.

I had absolutely no problems with Heath at all, and I worked with him from start to finish on construction. He was very professional, accommodating, and respectful, and responded to every message/phone call (I did get the fastest responses when I communicated via text. Email was the slowest way to communicate, and was generally reserved for things that specifically needed to be in writing). He also went above and beyond to make sure I got a fair appraisal, both when I purchased and when I sold the home (his documentation allowed me to successfully protest the appraisal and get it amended when I purchased the home).

At one point, he came out to the house at a moment's notice (Neighbor had developed a large leak in the main water line, but we couldn't tell where the water was coming from. His plumber fixed the problem the next day). He also was very fair with the pricing of his upgrades. I was charged his cost for upgraded flooring, an dishwasher, faucet, and a few other non-standard items (no builder mark-up). I received a credit at the lighting store for fixtures that I did not need and was able to use the credits to upgrade other fixtures, and he had his crew hang a couple of fixtures I already owned.

Unfortunately, I had to sell that house and move to the Houston area. The builders here are not at all accommodating - huge mark-ups for upgrades and most will not install anything that you do not purchase through them (probably more due to the fact that most of the builders in Houston are actually large corporations and not local, small businesses).

Don't have much to say about Heath Townsend because he was never around, but when he was partners with Cody Scates, that company was a joke when it came to repairs. I bought one of their houses and their SOP was laughable at best when it came to warranty repairs. They prefer that you contact their contractors because they dont have time for it. Of course their contractors have no relationship with you so most of the time, you'll never hear back from them. No suprise the company folded.

I just moved in to my house in Castle Rock that I bought from Kenny a month ago. I can't say enough nice things about him and his work.

I'll just throw it out there, met with a few builders before going with Husfeld. Couldn't have been happier...

I'd agree with John Magruder of Magruder Homes. He works with you and always has your best interests in mind. He is great to work with, responsive to questions and all around great person.

Champs-

My family moved into a Magruder home in Dec and I've posted about my positive experience a couple times on the RE board.

We actually took the outline of the plans we wanted to them and tey helped us make it a reality. John and his team were very personable and were there to answer in person onsite if we ever had a question or concern.

I know it's just one experience amongst all these others but we enjoyed working with Magruder and have an awesome home we love, and they came in on time and on budget.

Would not hesitate to use them again if personal need arises and have already referred them to at least 1 friend.

Check out Blackstone. Owner is A&M grad that built high end customs in Dallas for a number of years. He's built a lot of acreage homes in Saddle Creek that are amazing.

KM is a very well known respected builder in town. A few others are:

Jimmy Pitman
Pitman custom homes
492-6457

John Magruder
Phone: 324.6682

JMV Custom Homes
Jason Marek
Phone: 220-8761

The Brazos Valley Homebuilders Association is another good place for you to look. Another homebuilder moving into the area is Kinsmen Homes. They seem to have really great moral values and are building in Castlegate 2 and Creekview. They try to put the fun back in building, and have really easy financing options for you.
