I'm curious as well.. considering this for my daughter in a few months (11mo old now). I hadn't heard of ISR until yesterday and it seems like a great program.

Very expensive so the wife wants more info before deciding.

Isr is the only way I would go now that I have been through it twice. My son is an amazing swimmer and my daughter loves the water. It takes patients but I wouldn't change it. Totally worth it

Somebody (I don't think the above poster) posted on here a month or so back (maybe longer?) that their child had just finished it.

I'm interested in enrolling the baby egret. For those who have been, can you comment on price, time commitment, location? I plan on emailing the person listed on the site also, because that information wasn't listed.

My sister did this with both her kids 20+ years ago. They were both in the water at 9 months floating then learning to swim to the side of the pool. It was amazing!

I taught my kids to swim myself starting at 18 months. Have been swimming together ever since. Watched other parents bring their kids to swim lessons and watch from the side sitting down not involved. Glad I did not go that route.

The wife said that it is held at Aerofit and is a 4 - 6 week class. I think it is around $100 to register and $115 a week for 10 minutes of training.

worked well for my son (18 months old). he floats on his back and kicks to the wall. the only one in the class that strikes a pose while floating

If we have another we will definitely be investing in this.

Read the manual and and info if you decide to do it though.

Not really when you consider the instructor is facilitating an indoor heated pool, and the insurance, and bathroom, (yes all included at Aerofit, but I am sure they get a sizable amount), They had to pay allot for instruction/certification

Wow, this is exactly the kind of thing I've been looking for with my 6mo son. Of course I find out about it as soon as we move away from B/CS! I'll have to look for a provider near us.

So lessons can end up being over $700 for 6 weeks? I think that's beyond insane.

We just finished with our 16 month old and I came on here specifically to post about our experience while it is fresh. I am glad I searched posts before i started a new one.

I can tell you this, I did get a little sticker shock on the front end of this and my wife had reservations of the "is she too young" variety, but we committed to do this as we personally know of someone who's child did not get the "gift of time" as Shellie calls it.

Now that she has completed the program I can tell you that our investment was money well spent, and I could not be more impressed with the outcome. The pride and joy I have gotten out of watching our daughter learn confidence and survival floating skills in the water. Obviously i hope she never has to rely on them, and we will not be any less vigilante in protecting our daughter around water, I do know that if the S hits the fan, she will know what to do, and with confidence.

I was also worried that if the lessons didnt take or even when they did, that our daughter would either be afraid of water or not want to go back in altogether, but Shellie's lessons and teaching techniques are magic to watch as they progress over the course and now when our daughter gets out she just wants to go right back in.

Just one person's opinion, but we had a positive experience, and I would recommend the course (especially if you have the oppurtunity to work with Shellie).

I had a response but I won't step on the good that you have found. We did our own swim stuff, I have 4 little minnows... one just took first place as a 6 y/o at the AggieTri...

We are working with Shellie and are having a great experience. She gets my recommendation, whatever that is worth. I don't look at the training as 'swim lessons' so i do not think the cost is too high. In my mind we are potentially saving our kids' life. The number 1 killer of 0-4 year olds is drowning.
