This is random but...there are so many products now days, and I really don't fully trust online reviews.

What could you recommend for teeth whitening products from YOUR personal use??

Toothpastes AND special whitening products...

Years ago, I still had some money from my FSA that I had to use up and my dentist suggested I give teeth whitening a shot. I had just enough for the custom fitted tray/gel bleaching (didn't bother with UV).

It's about 2 weeks of unpleasantness (your teeth become very sensitive and stay that way for a few days after treatment) but the results are well worth it. I have a crown from before I tried the teeth whitening so I have a constant reminder of how my teeth used to look.

I'll "touch up" my teeth by wearing the tray for a night every year or two. Before I realized I could order more gel over the Internet, I tried an OTC teeth whitening product but it bleached my gums too. The gel doesn't do that.

Our dentist offers it and while it is more expensive than the OTC route, the results last longer and look better.

I haven't found the teeth whitening toothpastes to be very effective. My dentist essentially said that you can't expect something that you use for only about a minute twice a day to actually do anything.

A lot of it depends on whether the discoloraiton is from stains or genetics.

hydrogen peroxide - swish it around in your mouth and spit. Do it a few days before bed and you'll notice a difference. It is the main ingredient in all of those other expensive teeth whitening products!
