Yep. The non-taqueria taco niche is a mighty big one that is not being filled right now.

just back from San Antonio. ate the puffy tacos at Los Barrios. awesome! please do puffy tacos!

Rusty's Taco, Fuzzy's Taco, La Bodega, Chuy's, Lupe Tortilla, and pretty much every other hispanic-themed restaurant in town offer their take on tacos. Let's have another one!!

Eh. Peter's a savvy guy...if he didn't think there was a market for upscale tacos he wouldn't be doing this.

WE have 3,000 hamburger joints in BCS, another Taco stop won't be bad.

Burgers, tacos, & pizza are the three food groups for college students. It should do well here.

I believe he's going to do the flatbread tacos that were sold off the truck...just more of them.

as long as he is doing the pulled pork with the chile oil, I will definitely being adding that to my lunch rotation

So, the Madden's "taco truck" didn't work out, but perhaps it will work if you don't put wheels on it. Hmmm...

Maybe--in a stable location he can probably pull in more customers at each mealtime than in any random spot the truck would go. He did have some dang good flatbread "tacos" on his truck, so the new place will definitely be worth checking out!

for any concepts, I would do a focus group before investing in a new food venture

Yea, good one. Three restaurants in a row on Texas Ave. could surely survive selling chicken fingers!

Nought: the Madden's truck had a LOT of problems, but selling enough food wasn't one of them. In fact they RAN out quite regularly. They had staff issues, mechanical issues...honestly I think a gremlin lived under its hood causing all sorts of problems.
But location for this new place is very much a factor...and its getting a lot of chatter on Peter's Facebook page...much of it humorously mirroring the "Towerpoint vs. Bryan vs. everything in between" squabbling so common on this board.

Nah...judging from past threads, south CS is very happy with its new Taco Bell, and thus presumably has little interest in...just another taco joint.

He "prolly" knows better then to compete with the culinary marvels strung out along the bypass.

Aggiewrench, i doubt that the puffy tacos from Los Barrios in San Antonio, where they were invented, and the ones from fuego grill are the same. hope he would give it a try.
