I know this is kinda an odd question but I am trying to find a Vet in the area that has some experience with Chinese Shar Pei. They have some unique health issues related to diet and skin. I have been using a vet in North Houston but that is getting to be a pain. I just figure with the Vet School and all here, I should be able to find a vet with some experience with this breed or one that is willing to learn.

Sometimes Vets with experience with Old English Bulldogs are good too as the breeds have some similar issues.

Looking for suggestions.

+1 for the vet school. Knowledgeable, caring, and in line price-wise with pretty much everyone else for routine health care (i.e. not emergencies).

While I can't recommend a general vet for your specific breed, I can recommend Dr. Patterson at the vet school for your pup's skin problems.

When we moved here 6 years ago I searched, in vain, for the first few years for a vet who knew and understood the special needs of our english bulldog. It was frustrating to come to the realization that there really isn't one.

And then we broke down and went to the vet school where we met Dr. Patterson and his great staff! He is a veterinary dermatologist and has taken our pooch from a red hot mess to a happier and healthier dog.

If your dog's diet is directly related to the skin issues he can help with that too!
