A friend of mine is looking into subleasing her apartment through August, and then you could renew then if you'd like. It's safe, she lived there herself but is moving out of town. Off SW Parkway/Central Park Area. $700/mo most bills paid for 2 bedroom. I can pass her email to you if you'd be interested.

For a fish I would suggest Calloway House, The Tradition, or Cambridge. Dorm style living but off campus and nicer.

I agree with Callaway House, Cambridge, Callaway Villas, etc. I live at Callaway House and it's pretty nice, it seems much nicer when you visit. Food is okay, it's extremely greek but 98% freshman.

I would love to help you OP. I work for Aggieland Apartment Finders.

At our business, we are all licensed real estate agents and we provide a free service that is very similar to a house search with a realtor. We find out what you are looking for in an apartment (the preferences that you want and in the price range you want). Then we give you a run down of all the places that match what you are looking for. Whichever ones interest you the most we will take you to look at, making sure to ask good questions and find out everything we need to know before making a decision. It really saves you time and headache. We will do all the research for you and make sure you know all the factors.. and we are never pushy. You make your decision on your time. Like I said, its free. Let me know if you are interested.

I am a big believer in living on campus at least the first year or two. It really helps you get into the whole college life. Plus, studies have shown that you are much more likely to go to class if you live on campus. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be a possibility, so I would echo the responses of some of the other posters and recommend Callaway House or Traditions. Both are withing walking distance of campus (Callaway House is on George Bush across from Olsen Field and Traditions is behind Northgate). These places have a dorm-like feel to them and your student will be surrounded by other students. In my opinion, it would be best for her to be surrounded by fellow students rather than a mixture of students, young professionals, and families during her first year. These places will also have more activities going on similar to the on-campus dorms.

Cambridge is another off campus dorm, but it is farther from campus. It is on a bus route, though, so that helps. Callaway Villas are next door to Callaway House, but have more of an apartment feel rather than a dorm feel.

Good luck to your student and please welcome her to the Aggie family. The next four (or five or six) years are going to be some of the best of her life!

we narrowed it down to 3.
The student and the parents checked out Cambridge and calloway. They didnt like it too much.
Thanks for the input.

I wanted her to live on campus, but she didnt turn in her housing application til mid April, so now she has to find an apartment for the first year.

Sounds like she's already on the path of being a successful college freshman.

Also, I don't know how you cannot like either of the two options you posted. Maybe the cost is what they didn't like?
