How long do you want to ignore this user?
I'm a young professional (30) who has lived in Bryan/College Station for quite some time. While I was at TAMU and a few years after I graduated and started my professional career here I really enjoyed this area. As I get older I find myself spending most of my weekends in Houston/Austin with friends.

Just seems like there's not that much going on in this area for guys like me...when I do stay in town I find myself wondering where other young professionals "hang out". I do my fair share of grilling with friends at the house and enjoying the weekend outside doing recreational sports...just wondering what other young professionals are doing in this town?

It was sometime in the previous century. I am old, comparatively speaking. No longer a young professional in BCS.

I went to several YPA happy hours and did not really enjoy the crowd. I found it to be very cliquish; everyone seemed to have their own group and were not overly welcoming of newcomers.

I think it's the KBTX group and everybody else.

Had a similar experience with YPA. I have issues in B/CS with various people assuming I'm an undergrad when in fact I'm older than they are.

But you may have a different experience. I will say that Downtown Bryan has a growing population of 25-50 year old business. Seems enjoyable for people who want to have a good time and not deal with the Ngate crowd.

Maybe we need a thread for the "old professionals of Aggieland."

OK, so from now on I will refer to you as if you are 50, since that's my best guess.

Oh wow! My sister is 27 and works for a local company in town. She has really enjoyed YPA and met some locals around town! I say try it out!

I play on the YPA softball team if you want to introduce yourself tomorrow night.

I've been to quite a few YPA events and never felt that anyone was unfriendly. They have a variety of gatherings outside of drinking happy hours.

I've met some great people through YPA, it just takes some time to get to know the people in the group. You also have to go to more than just the Happy Hours to really get to know people. They have all sorts of different activities that break the group into smaller sub-sections (sports, luncheons, professional development book clubs, etc). Those are where you really start to get to know the other members.
