I am considering suddenlink for home phone service. For those who have this service, how do you like it? Please tell me the pros and cons. If there has been a thread on this subject in the past, please post a link. Thank you for your advice/input.

I like it, no complaints

I've had it for 4 years and we don't have any issues. The biggest thing is I do lose my ohone service if the lights go out. Plus, when I call my Mom is the Hill Country, I get a REALLY bad echo being on VOIP and the fact that they haven't updated the phone system out there EVER. They were still on party lines out there until the late 90's. But most of the time-it's great. We also have an unlisted phone number with them, and we NEVER get all the phone calls that other people complain about.

I've had it for a while with no problems. I think that I'm about to bite the bullet and get rid of the land line. Just have to just do it.

Why wouldn't you just answer your cell phone at home ?

I don't know anyone who still has a home phone number. My parents just cancelled theirs. Honestly, whats the point, other than to waste another 10-30 dollars a month ?

We are debating too - so many hidden taxes on Verizon although we're happy with our directv package et al. Suddenlink does seem to have better pricing at the moment.

No. Power outage- no phone service. Back when I was in high school Hurricane Carla hit the area. We were without power in Brenham for a few days, but the phone service was uninterrupted.

My parents have it for about a year now and have never had a problem....

We've had Suddenlink phone for about 5 months now.

Pros: Free long distance, free caller id, free call waiting, a lot cheaper than Verizon ($25 for Suddenlink whereas Verizon was $40+ for basic).

Cons: Cuts off with the power goes down and it sometimes just disconnects while on the phone for no reason.

We really enjoy the service and have been happy with it. We've saved a lot of money and I like that I can call long distance on my home phone and not have to always use my cell phone.

Something about Magic Jack [here]

I stay up at all hours of the morning, and I think Magic Jack just can up with something that doesn't need a computer. More than a few people are happy with it.

That being said, I went back to Verizon. I like having the safety of something that works when the power goes out.

WRONG!.It has a battery back up that lasts 18-20 hrs depending on how much you use it

We've had it for a year and are very pleased. Much cheaper with services--free long distance, caller ID, etc-- we did not have with phone co. Have had no outages. But, we have cell phone to use in case of outages.

Google Voice and a cell phone. Can't beat it.
