Burns me up how these scammers will use a trusted name in law enforcement to bilk people. Beware.

Just goes back to the old rule.

If you don't recognize the number, don't answer.

I'm pretty sure they fake the caller id Sara. Or at least use a misleading one.

If they can fake it to where it says "MyWife" when they call, then I would be impressed.

When someone calls me a name comes up or a number. If it is just a number, don't answer.

But as I said, I would be impressed if they could "ghost" people out of my contacts. That would be obviously over the line, but kind of impressive.

Well if it said something like DPS with a 512 area code I bet it dupes a lot of people. Obviously there's an issue, otherwise DPS wouldn't have issued the alert.

I got a call last night. It was from Luling. Told the guy I was a cop and he hung up. Hmmmmmm wonder why?

tliac - you should have asked to meet them somewhere to hand them a check because you don't trust the postal system.

LOL - I bet they would have hung up on that remark also.
