CCMS should have given you a list of approved daycares. If they didn't, ask them.

The problem, of c ourse, is what CCMS approved daycares actually have openings? I know that CCMS approves of Kindercare and also Stepping Stone. However, I don't know if either has openings. I can recommend Kindercare on Village. The Director has been there for over 20 years and it's a great place for kids. We've had two generations go through them. Good luck!

I wholeheartedly recommend Bullfrogs and Butterflies off 29th and Autumn Circle. Having reviewed and visited over 14 facilities in BCS this is the one place where I felt completely at ease about leaving my son. I have not looked back since. The directors are owners and are on-site daily and they truly care about your kids. My son absolutely loves it there and is learning at a tremendous pace. I highly recommend the place. Their website is www.childcarebcs.com.

Golden Keys is awesome! My grandchildren have been there for over 4 years and love it. The majority of the teachers have been there for at least that long. Highly recommend them!

Have you tried BVCAA Head Start? They have an office on Briarcrest, but also have a few centers in town. They also have a home base program if your interested.

Not many daycares accept CCMS. They make daycares jump through hoops for only a portion of the tuition. CCMS is great for parents but a pain for the daycares.

Thanks for those suggestions!! Most of those places make me pay my parent fee plus another 300-400 in fees!! And if its not that then they have no openings for my sons age!! This is more stressful then I thought!

I'm not trying to be mean, but why should your fees be waived?

Tanya what do u mean fees waived?? Im not asking for any fees to be waived, I was simply asking for suggestions on daycares that are decent with a reasonable price!

My mistake

Your post was they make me pay the parents fee and then more fees on top of that.

I thought you wanted not to have to the pay the fees.

The reality is it is going to be very hard to find a place that takes CCMS and has an opening in the summer without having any fees.

We've been told that they will be discontinuing "Part Day" daycare after this coming Fall/Spring. FYI

given the waitlists in this town, you're better off trying to find a newer daycare that's just getting started and working to build a clientele.

There is a new one opening in CS. Someone mentioned it a couple months ago. Rainforest I think it's called.

Blessings from Above in Bryan and College Station may have some openings and they take CCMS....not sure about the fees though.

No matter how you dice it up (parent fees, child fees, whatever), you are looking at an average around $500 to $600 per month per child. The problem is that you are needing to also have "decent" and "no waiting list". Basic economics here. Decent (good) products will have more demand and thus either or both higher prices and longer waiting lists.

Good luck on your search. There are some good ones in town as people have mentioned.

Not sure how old your kids are. Pretty sure Stepping Stone has openings not including the infant room. The infant room is the hardest to get into in any daycare. Other than that, some may have openings. (I doubt St. Thomas Equinas does, we were on a long waitlist, and we get to now start on 9/1).

St. Thomas Aquinas should have some openings. They have made a few changes that I think have made some open spots. Very nice staff and exceptional facilities. I think there are plenty around town that are great too. Most of us have only visited one or two and can be biased, but still this forum is a good place to at least get a list of places you want to check out.

Your best option is to call around and setup appointments to meet with each one after you have eliminated any deal-breakers that can be found out over the phone (prices, policy, etc.).

Good luck!

Have you ever tried A Special Place off anderson? They are a small center, but the staff is very friendly.

You should look into Sonshine Station on East 29th. I believe they have openings for all ages and are one of the cheapest in town.

Stay away from St Michaels, St Joe, and Kindercare. Good Luck in finding a good daycare.

My child went to St. Jo's for five years and had a fabulous experience. She was well prepared for school and socially outgoing. Everyone's children are different, and react differently to their environments.

I also have a friend that is on the board for St. Michael's and the above is truly the first bad thing (stay away) that I have ever heard.

Of note, we're not Catholic but since I worked fulltime I needed full day care back then and my church only offered part day.
