Just go to the Asian Market near tractor supply. They have the RIGHT kind of rice, imitation crab meat and other asian seasonings/spices including the nori for much lower prices than other places. They also have a TON of tools including the mats.
If you are SERIOUS about making sushi get a real JAPANESE rick cooker that can make sushi rice. It comes out PERFECT every time. All you have to do is mix in the rice wine vinegar, sugar etc...
We use the wooden salad bowl we got with a bowl set for cooling. (wood helps to wick the moisture away.
There are lots of videos online as well for "how to" instructions. You can also go to on of the local sushi bars and sit up at the bar and watch to learn techniques.
*TIP* wrapt the mats in plastic wrap so then don't require cleanup. They are bamboo and stuff gets between the pieces and is a PITA to clean.
Good Luck!
Of course if the kit is for a gift then nothing I said is of help and I doubt they will have that.
