Is there any place in town to purchase a Houston Chronicle today (on a Monday)? I'm looking to buy one for the coupon inserts.

Good luck with that. I tried five or six convenience stores yesterday before 11am and they were all sold out. Must have been some good coupons, as one cashier told me one lady bought all of the copies available.

Possibly Hastings?? Just a thought. They used to carry a variety of newspapers. A long shot. I haven't bought a newspaper from there in a long time.

Try one of the libraries. Explain that you just want to take the coupons. They may or may not let you, but it won't hurt to try.

I used to work at the Hastings in Bryan and they definitely had Sunday Houston Chronicles. Checking there would probably be your best bet.

Called B&N and they recycle off site upon close on Sunday. I may be SOL.

Your best bet is to buy a Sunday only subscription. I picked on up at the corner store last weekend and there were NO coupons. Tons of circulars, but no actual coupons.

There are never any coupons on holiday weekend sunday papers - memorial day screwed that one up for you.

Well there you go!! I don't normally clip coupons, but I have been on the look out for Gatorade/Powerade coupons for my son. This would explain why there were no coupons....lol

I bought a Houston Chronicle this past Sunday and there we no coupons inside. I was surprised...the couponing thing is new to me, but are there normally coupons inside the Sunday Chronicle?

Natalie,

There should have been 3 inserts. The P&G one comes out the first Sunday of every month with the others coming out on a prescribed schedule as well.

You can check this blog (there are many others)
http://www.sundaycouponpreview.com/
for a preview of what inserts will be in the paper.

Buying papers at convenience stores/paperstands is iffy at best on coupons and always remember, the insert contents vary by newspaper/location.

All of this and my coupons just sit in a stack - I might just be the queen of useless information after all

The really dedicated coupon queens will go to the paper machine and put in money for a paper and swipe the coupons from all the copies in there. I kid. Most certainly do not do that. I do know some who will buy multiple papers, pull the coupons out and then leave the coupon-less papers on top of the machine for others to take.

Yes, I'm not surprised it has actually happened...hopefully that is a rare exception. However, I have a friend who is all into this extreme couponing; I wouldn't put much past her (short of actual commission of a crime).

I have known her to shop a store the day before a big coupon hits the paper. She will actually grab a couple packages of whatever lovely item they will be "practically giving away" the next day and she hides those packages somewhere in the store behind something else. That way if she is outraced the next morning by other committed couponers, she can be reasonably assured she still gets a couple packages.
