House of Tires, Fifth C Fine Jewelry and Shipwreck Grill are hosting a fundraising event for the family of Bryan Fire Fighter DJ Capener this coming Thursday from 11-2 and 6-10 at Shipwreck Grill. 100% of the profits from the restaurant for the event are going to go to DJ’s family in Oklahoma. The more folks that come out, the more we can donate!

DJ’s family was struck with tragedy with the recent tornados in Oklahoma. His cousins lost two children; Ryan age 5 and Cole who was 18 months old. The mother, who is 5 months pregnant and daughter Cathleen age 5 remain in the hospital.

For more info please read Chuck the Aggie Jeweler’s post and pictures:

Please come out Thursday for crawfish, live music, drink specials and raffle items.

Raffle items will include:

4 Tires from House of Tire ($1,000 value)

Jewelry from Fifth C Fine Jewelry (Pictures coming soon)

Dinner for two to Shipwreck Grill

Other items to be announced this week (Please feel free to contact us if you have something to donate).

Raffle tickets can be purchased or donations made to the Capener Family all week at House of Tires, Fifth C or Shipwreck Grill.

There are always folks in need however this is a very tragic event for a local neighbor’s family. DJ puts himself in harm’s way for all of us for a living, I hope folks will come out and join us Thursday in support.

Thanks in advance to everyone that can attend.

Thank you for putting this fundraiser together for DJ's family. My husband works for Bryan Fire Dept and I can personally tell you that DJ is a wonderful person and I know he truly appreciates this.

Please keep his family in your prayers.

How much money do they need ? Did they not have homeowners insurance or medical insurance ? Is there a list of what they need somewhere ?

This was posted in the first message. Cool site. It looks like they are very close to reaching their goal of $45K.

Money runs out fast, so hopefully, everything else that is donated will be used down the road for other needs.

Two funerals
Temporary shelter until permanent is acquired
Temporary vehicles (theirs are in the lake) until permanent is acquired
New everything, I mean everything (the clothes on Hank's back the day of the storm are all they have)
Enormous hospital bills are pending
Etc, etc, etc

I know they will need every dime.
Thanks for your generosity.

God's Peace,
Chuck

People are still donating!! Just come by the House of Tires or The Shipwreck Grill and leave your donation, It's not too late..... We are the best town, in the best country, in the world. Not sure yet, but it looks like we've raised in cash and items somewhere between $7500.00- $8000.00 and people are still giving!! Gotta love B/CS!! Thanks to everyone that came out. God Bless

THANK YOU BCS!

We will be handing about $6,000.00 cash to the Hamil family along with:

A new queen mattress and bed set from Jarred & Elisha McLeod at the Sleep Station

and

$1,000.00 in kitchen supplies (flatware, plates, cookware, etc) from Kevin and Abby Krolczyk with Kesco

The $6,000 was raised from the raffle sales with all the items donated and from Shipwreck's contribution of the day's profits. We will put that list of raffle contributors up too.

I want to underscore what our friends Wade and Mary Beckman with Shipwreck did. No gimmicks, they had the biggest day the place has ever had and therefore the expenses of such a day, while donating 100% of the profits of the day's take to this cause.

Please make plans to eat and drink at Shipwreck to let them make a few dollars off of you soon.

Thank you again folks. I am humbled to have seen so many do so much.

God's Peace,
Chuck

Just dropped by the Shipwreck for lunch, left a donation to be added to last nights funds. Why not do the same if you could not make it by lastnight.

Elisha and I are honored that we could help. Tragic events like this really help put things into perspective, as to how fortunate most of us are. It was wonderful to see so many people at Shipwreck for lunch yesterday and I'm sure it was the same for dinner. Please continue with the donations, Thank you, and God bless!

Thanks Chuck and All! It is so incredible to be a part of this event and to see the enormous generosity of this community. It would not have been possible without the HUGE efforts from House of Tires, Fifth C Fine Jewelry and the many that made donations and came out to support the overall event. The true success was from everyone that opened their hearts and their wallets in support of the Hamil family.

A specific thanks to the following folks that made donations (In no particular order):

Bryan Broadcasting
The National Guard
Sassy Sheree
Healing Touch
C&J BBQ
Republic Landscape
The Crawfish Hole
Innovative Fitness
The Sleep Station
Caju-u-Tex

If I missed naming anyone, my apologies!

My Thanks to Everyone!

The Capener and Hamil families cannot thank the good people of this community enough.

Shipwreck, Fifth C, House of Tires, Village Foods and Servpro of Brazos Valley really stepped up to help our family, again words cannot thank you guys enough.

I wish I could personally thank each and every individual who gave their time or money but I cannot.

Below is an open letter to our community from the Hamil Family.

quote:
Hank and Catherine Hamil and their extended families and the people of the Piedmont community send very deep appreciation to all of you who have so freely given of your prayers, time, talents, gifts and services. Who would have expected a truck load of supplies to arrive within 48 hours from as far away as Bryan, Texas? What a welcome sight it was to see my son D.J. arrive and to meet Chuck. Although they had driven throughout the night and had assisted in unloading a truck load of supplies in Piedmont, DJ and Chuck took the time to accompany me to the site of Hank and Catherine's home. Although we had meet only a hour prior to this, I felt a deep sense of gratitude and connection as Chuck walked through the devastation with us, showed me the little angel like print on the blanket in which Ryan had been laid, searched for personal items near the Hamil home and then knelt and openly prayed more than once.

We are also deeply grateful for the other fundraisers that have been taking place in the Bryan/College Station area. Every single item and every single dollar donated is being gratefully accepted.
We are so touched with the generosity that your community has shown to those Oakies!

A simple thank you could never adequately express our appreciation.

Pam Capener and The entire Hamil Family

Thank you BCS

All the glory to God. The song is beautiful, and Catherine knows it is true.

Please continue to pray for the Hamil Family, all those also affected by the storms, the fires, the other natural disasters.

There are no shortages of things to pray for, and there is no such thing as too many prayers.

God's Peace,
Chuck

I made it through about 1 minute of that video before I had to turn it off. It's just too painful to watch and think about something like this happening to my family. And I thank God everyday that we are all together.

This story just breaks my heart! I will continue to pray for them as they continue to move forward. Thanks to Chuck and everyone else who has been so giving to this family!
