Was thinking about this topic for friends coming in from out of town, or new folks moving in to the area.
- Go to an A&M home football game, preferably against t.u. Be sure and come early to see the opening ceremonies. Midnight Yell Practice is worth going to, also. If you're unfamiliar with A&M and its traditions, these will help.
- Go to Silver Taps.
- Go to Aggie Muster. Say "here" for someone who has passed on.
- Visit the George Bush Library. Have your picture taken in front of a section of the Berlin Wall and the "freedom horses" statue.
- Visit the Sanders Corps of Cadets Center. Be sure and see the Metzger-Sanders gun collection. Buy a brick while you're there.
- Tour Mesina Hof Winery.
- Spend some time in downtown Bryan, especially on a First Friday or during Texas Reds. Visit some shops, eat in some of the restaurants. Spend a night in the La Salle Hotel.
- Speaking of La Salle, go see his statue in Navasota. The French donated the statue to the city to honor the explorer, who died nearby.
- Go to Washington-on-the-Brazos and reflect how far Texas has come. Tour the Star of Texas museum.
- Visit the Fanthorp Inn in Anderson, and take a ride on the stagecoach.
- Go to the Renaissance Festival in Plantersville at least once. Take the kids.
- See the giant statue of Sam Houston off I45 in Hunstville. Exit the Interstate and go walk around.
- Visit the Texas Prison Museum in Huntsville. See "Old Sparky," the electric chair.
- Visit the Sam Houston Memorial Museum at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville. Take the tour and walk the grounds.
- Go to the Mushroom Festival in Madisonville.
- Visit Camp Hearne, the German POW camp.
- Go to the Roundtop Antiques Fair during Antique Weekend in and around Roundtop, first weekend of April and October. You'll be blown away. Go early and expect to walk. A lot.
- Spend some time in the Roundtop and Burton area when it's NOT Antique Weekend. Take in the Cotton Gin, the historic buildings museum, and the concert hall. It's even worth sitting on a bale of hay and watching the t.u. drama department perform at Shakespeare at Winedale.
- Tour the Bluebell Creamery in Brenham, then eat at Dos Brisas in Chappel Hill, our only area five star restaurant.
- Visit the Old Baylor ruins at Independence. While there, stroll through the Antique Rose Emporium. Drive down scenic FM 390 to Burton during bluebonnet season.

If Huntsville ain't officially in the Brazos Valley, it's close enough to have its tourist attractions on my bucket list. Feel free to make your own list and exclude anything in Walker Co.
